The clips kick ass. Obviously ordering this.

P.S. When are we getting at least a "Best Of" for each season??!

Just finished watching this! A lot of fun. I think I enjoyed The Ark Of Truth more, but speaking strictly score I think Continuum has a superior score! The journey and passage of time music that Joel has written here is fantastic, and easily beats out most of what was written for Ark: Although, "Journey To Celeste" was an overly impressive piece from Ark, too. The action/adventure music for Continuum is superior, too, IMO. Definitely ordering this score!

If there's a problem with this feature, it's that I wanted to see O'Neill get into the thick of the action, like the fantastic "The Return" from Atlantis. Also, some of the stock shots of fighter planes should have been wholly replaced by CGI, since it's so obvious stock footage is being used at certain points and it hurts the overall high-quality of the production. It was nice to see Don S. Davis back, same with William Devane's President role. The arctic journey sequence is cool, but of course comes nowhere close to the harrowing and similar sequence of Kirk and McCoy in similar peril on the ice world Rura Penthe in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Overall, I'm happy with this, just a few minor glitches here and there... Ark was more satisfying overall, IMO.

    Sean,

I agree with you that Ark Of Truth was more satisfying of a story. I liked how they handled the Ori story arc with that movie. Continuum wasn't bad at all but in the end it was just another time travel episode and I sorta got bored with it. Probably because they've done so many time travel episodes in the past it just became a major yawn fest.

The score for both films though is pretty well done. Definitely can't wait to listen to Continuum as a stand alone.

Trent: I watched it again this morning, turned the commentary track on mid-way through and enjoyed it a bit more; Martin Wood and Brad Wright offer some pretty interesting insights into the production: Also, they mention that they cut dialog from the arctic sequence because it interfered with Joel's music and they loved what he'd written so much that they cut out the speaking parts; good choice! The jet stock shots still make me cringe.

Why are you talking about yourself in the third-person here?

No idea, but I'd imagine it was just something they got from the USAF; cheaper, as in free, than paying for something that looks decent and consistent with the rest of the production: CGI.

Because including me in some of the action sequences would have increased the intensity ten fold! I kid you not.

I listened to the clips on those two by him, Continuum and that Ark score he did. Both were decent. Not bad at all. J.

Not bad? They're pretty damn good. I know Ark Of Truth is pretty good, I love the score. I'm sure Continuum will be just as good as well.

I second that! Especially considering the "mainstream" output these days, I'd say Joel's contribution is above average... Don't know what John's smoking, but I want it!
