Anyone looking forward to this Randy Edelman score?

Absolutely -- The first two scores were spectacular and I believe Edelman has some talent to tap into, especially on the action side. He was given a real orchestra, right?

Other forums have mentioned Debney doing some cues late.

I will give the score a shot. I only like a couple of Edelman scores but this one I'll give a whirl.

I personally didn't like the score for the second mummy enough to buy it, and I'm afraid that third part will be more like the Silvestri's score, rather than Goldsmith's. But I heard not enough for the final verdict, let's wait.

unfortunately the clips ive heard are nowhere near as awesome as the silvestri (whcih was imo far far more enjoyable than the goldsmith)

I've always preferred Goldsmith's version over Silvestri's. Silvestri's is still fun to listen to though. It's sad George that you don't like Silvestri's score.Edit: I will say having the complete scores for both Goldsmith's and Silvestri's helps a great deal in my opinion.

I have to say, although I love huge adventurous themes like Silvestri wrote for The Mummy Returns, Goldsmith has him beat. There was much more you could do with Goldsmith's music and it also gave the film more of a unique style/feel. Silvestri's music made it kind of more of a typical adventure movie and didn't seem quite dark enough for the film.As for the third movie, no desire to see it. Rob Cohen? That's just a terrible director. But I do have some hope for the score.

Agreed on all points!

I doubt any of Debney's work makes the CD.

It's been stated Debney was hired on to I guess finish up the score similar to what he did for Looney Tunes.

Haven't heard from Edelman in awhile. We'll be lucky if it's anything close to what Silvestri and Goldsmith gave us. I'm hoping he uses a full orchestra.

As Rob Cohen writes in his blog:
"The scoring in London went so well. Randy spent ten days, two sessions a day, with the 105 piece London Symphony and the music is doing a great job giving the movie bravado, adventure, and thematic beauty."

Debney came in because Edelman was unavailable to re-write portions of his score.

Not if Debney was called into rewrite after the initial recordings. Besides, these blogs are always suspect in my opinion as they are mainly marketing tools, not true journals.

Surprisingly, I am looking forward to this movie. I am trying to not get too excited, based on what have been solid trailers.I have always been a fan of Edelman and have missed him for several years now.
Yes, the Cohen factor worries me, but I am willing to give the film a shot.

A side note, did anyone see the Yeti and the dragon?? Ahh!!!! I swear I thought our special effects were a little more advanced than that these days! Big orchestra though??? I can't wait.
