World premiere of complete Alan Silvestri original soundtrack from Menahem Golan terrorist action movie with Chuck Norris, Lee Marvin. Silvestri scores for Synclavier, anchors with stirring main hero theme then surrounds with colorful ethnic music, rhythmic action music. Highlight is tender theme for Jewish victims that plays first in delicate manner, then grows into passioned musical statement. Original Enigma label LP offered 35 minutes of highlights (subsequent Milan CD was even shorter) but Intrada CD premieres entire score in dynamic stereo sound, supervised by composer. Alan Silvestri performs. Intrada Signature Edition limited to 1000 copies!

EMPEROR OF THE NORTH / CAPRICE

Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume 68
Dates: 1973 / 1967
Tracks: 26
Time = 70:22
br> World premiere of original 20th Century Fox soundtrack from Robert Aldrich depression-era action movie, set on train, starring Lee Marvin, Ernest Borgnine. Frank DeVol captures period with requisite thirties flavor, then surrounds with muscular action music. Dynamic rhythms for steaming locomotive are highlights. Movie underwent numerous title changes, scoring changes (original Bill Medley vocal was tossed in favor of Marty Robbins) with several cues ultimately shortened or dropped. Ironically, while masters for re-scoring and vocal changes are sadly missing, complete original scoring sessions (including Medley vocal) all survive, including complete "Box Fights" climax that was truncated in finished film! Intrada CD presents full score as DeVol originally intended, recorded in mono as per finished film. Also on CD as bonus are surviving DeVol stereo cues for lively 1967 Frank Tashlin comic spy movie CAPRICE with Doris Day, Richard Harris. Though master elements here were damaged, 26 minutes survived in useable condition. Authoritative notes by Nick Redman on film productions, various scoring changes completes handsome package. Frank DeVol conducts. Intrada Special Collection release limited to 1200 copies!

I've seen complete scores be only that long before but it's kind of rare. I've ordered Delta Force, will skip on the other.

A friend of mine dared me to find the Delta Force score years ago so he could play the main theme at his wedding for the walk down the isle! I did, and he played it! Much to his wife's dismay, LMAO! Funniest thing to see. I'm ordering that puppy.

I'm kind of surprised it was limited to only 1,000 units.

some have speculated maybe it was part of a deal with CANNON FILMS, as HERCULES and INVASION USA were also limited to 1000.

I hope the Delta Force part has some different music from the old tape, CD. What is on there is the main theme played around 10 times and long cues of the same few measures over and over. J.
