Impressions? Haven't heard anything about this album since news of Shearmur leaving. Very interested in seeing the film, as I've heard it's quite good. I've no idea what music by Paul Cantelon sounds like, though. Can anyone recommend this album? Discussion?

Jeron: First off, I've been forced to watch this movie several times at work and it is one of the worst films of the year, easily. All around, the usually spectacular cast that is assembled here is downright terrible. The film ends with one of the worst freeze-frames ever put to the big screen. I won't rip into it too much, as I'll run out of adjectives to describe in the inane and terrible nature that you would be subjected to were to waste your time watching this mess. The score? What score? Seriously, this is an anonymous composition if there ever was one. Nothing ever, ever stood out... I think it's orchestral, but seriously, you never notice it whatsoever. If I had to give this thing a little thought than I'd have to conclude only that this film is attempting to capitalize on the likes of Shakespeare In Love and Elizabeth (now, that had a ridiculously terrible sequel!), and so if you absolutely adore those movies than you might find something to like briefly in this messy affair.

At least someone has an opinion here... geesh.

Nero will deliver better next year when we catch him burning the Enterprise hard-drive off onto Romulan BD discs. It's too bad he accepted The Other Boleyn Girl.

I thought the music towards the end was rather pretty but nothing memorable. Not a good movie. The Tudors on TV is better.

"The Other Boleyn Girl" on the other hand doesn't come across well from the trailers and I haven't been in a rush to see it.

Jeron, I don't know where you've been hearing that the movie is "quite good," but I'd have to side with Sean here. It's definitely nothing to write home about. As for the score... he nailed it there as well: utterly unmemorable and mostly unthematic fluff that neither serviced nor really disserviced the film, IMO.(But Sean, how do you get *forced* to watch a movie at work?? More than once, no less? Do you work for a film review board, or what!?)

I loved Paul's "Everything is Illuminated" score, so I was curious about this, but it seems to be a more "proficient" work than the aforementioned.Does anybody know if Edward Shearmur wrote and recorded a full score for this that was rejected, or if he simply walked?

You won't miss anything if you pass.
