Okay, since I was the only person who like the Iron Man score, I'm betting I'll among the few who feel it necessary to mention this.

On June 10th, Craig Armstrong's score for The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton will be available as a double disc edition as listed by Amazon. More interesting than the double disc fact and the image made availble at Amazon was the label. Unless incorrectly labeled, the music label on this is Marvel Entertainment! Comic book companies getting into the record business is nothing new, but in the soundtrack world, it seems rarer than other instances.

Never listened to Craig Armstrong's stuff before, like Plunkett & MacCleane, or World Trade Center, or Kiss of the Dragon. I'm sure he's a fine composer, but if any one has any feedback/opinions on him, I'd like to get those.

Personally, anything is better than the preceding film. I liked some of Elfman's music up until the middle eastern vocals appeared in an action sequence. My tastes lean away from it; I don't think that kind of music marries to action images well because its a turn off for me.

I personally love Armstrong's work. And he's actually the only reason I am looking forward to this movie.

I think Armstrong sucks, with a few notables in his catalogue (and those are mainly individual cues, and not whole works). I'm also one of the few who thinks that The Hulk was one of Elfman's best recent efforts. So now you have two differing opinions.

I wonder if this will be a full complete score or if it will be like Matrix Reloaded's album where Disc 1 is all songs and Disc 2 is score music.

Hopefully it will be a complete score release. I've never heard any of Armstrong's music but I would give it a whirl with this if it is a complete score release.

Actually, I think recent Armstrong isn't nearly as good as older Armstrong. I had trouble finding the repetativeisity of World Trade Center enjoyable. Luckily the CD is put together with unused tracks (at least I think so...) and alternate takes.

I think the last score from him that I really enjoyed was Ray... which was then destroyed by dialogue on the album and stupid remixes.

But I really enjoy his scores for Baz Lurhman. Very good stuff there. He managed to take Romeo + Juliet and make it emotional again, when Baz went the oposite way with it... Just to recap on what I said:

Romeo + Juliet = Sad Story

Romeo + Juliet + Baz Overdoing = Wrong

Romoe + Juliet + Baz Overdoing + Craig Armstrong Fixing It = Very nice...

Oh, and as for what I thought of Elfman's score... It made Hulk enjoyable for me. I actually really liked his themes for it and thought it was too good for the movie.

This is weird. I'm not complaining though. Has this ever been done before? (double CD score released with the film)

I am very interested to see how Armstrong's style fits with this movie. I really enjoy Plunkette and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, so we'll see.

Not for CD release but iTunes released the entire score for Arnold's Casino Royale. Though I wished it had gotten a real CD release but at the same time I'm satisfied with the mp3 versions of the rest of the music.

Hmmm, I hope Craig Armstrong will have more than enough good material to fit the 2 disc. I really like the idea of adapting Joe Harnell's theme for the big screen and I'm glad that Craig's the one doing it. .

Chris, I picked up Iron Man and thought it was an entertaining listen. I liked it enough. It's not going to change my life by any means, and on a Jerry Goldsmith and Bruce Broughton scale of perfection, 1 being abysmal and 10 being heavenly, it ranks a 4 on the album and a 7 in the film. Still, I do not regret picking up the disc. I guess I have a high tolerance and somewhat of a fascination for scores that work well in the film but not so much apart from them.

The Incredible Hulk should be terrific. I'm hoping so! Not sure what my expectations are for the film, but I am a Craig Armstrong fan and have enjoyed his previous efforts; especially in Plunkett and MacCleane, The Bone Collector and The Quiet American. Didn't listen to World Trade Center, but that's been more because 9/11 themed scores are just a bit too repelling, morose, and melancholy to me... that's not an emotional mental place I like to go, nor care to reproduce through music.

I did enjoy Elfman's score for The Hulk but never purchased it; it's on my list, though, if only to make my "Hulk" and "Marvel" music collection more complete (probably another reason I picked up Iron Man... I feel a Marvel compilation coming on in a few months). I'll enjoy comparing the two in more thorough detail.

And, on the subject of 2 whole discs of score... crazy bananas, it's true! This is an awfully proud move by the label. I hope the album lives up to its Hulkish offerings...

I don't think there's a single disc edition, Chris. So I would imagine that yes, Peter will...

Is this CD going to be available through other outlets other than Amazon?

I noticed the full page ad in Sunday's L.A. Times said "Soundtrack available at Amazon.com." No record label or anything else.

Amazon lists the label as "Marvel Entertainment."

Yeah, still trying to find a lead to get this in the store here. It's a shame... sooner or later, Amazon.com is going to be the only place left to buy anything, and they'll charge whatever they want then.

Most consumers won't care, though, which is the sadder part!

Craig Armstrong? Who is he? He did the Iron Man soundtrack, LOL. What soundtrack?

The Iron Man soundtrack didn't impress me. In fact, it more or less depressed me -- no themes, no action cues...nothing. It was trash as far as I'm concerned. It was a good thing that the movie had a plot, actors, and action. Otherwise, I'm sure that I would have walked out, which is what I should have done in Indy 4.

What else has this Craig Armstrong done? Am I going to hear his Iron Man soundtrack in the Incredible Hulk movie? I hope we don't have another James Horner here.

Craig Armstrong didn't do the IRON MAN soundtrack. The most recent score of his you may have heard would be ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE.

Most will get it via Amazon, but like those Varese Clubs, some of you like to get them via this store... so here you go:
