I always heard that this was a decent score. Is it worth it? Does it sound like Zimmer or media Ventures? Thanks just curious

Some tracks aren't very listenable, but I'd say it's worth getting just for the opening and especially the closing tracks.

Of course it sounds like Media Ventures, this is when John Powell was still under the guidance of Hans Zimmer. Nevertheless, I consider it a great score with some some excellent action writing. My favorite cue beyond the opening credits would have to be the airport chase scene (I think it's called "Furniture") which is coupled with the music from the prison escape scene. Some of the best action work there, really gets your adrenaline going.

The best track is "Get Ready for the Big Ride, Bubba". It finishes with an unusual semi-resolved chord structure. My favorite is that one and the second cue, whose name escapes at the moment.

This thread inspired me to bust this one out of its case after a few years of solitude. This is a fun, fun score. Yet another reason why Powell is the best of the MV "graduates". Even under Zimmer's "producing", he delivered a thrilling action score with some really solid themes.
The movie sucks, though. Wow. Did we ever think this was good?

I still think it's good. Well, sort of... The action scenes are to Woo-ish (aka, slow to the mo). But certain music cues actually really make the film IMO. A lot of the softer cues (which aren't on the album) make viewing the movie worth while. Plus the full opening cue is fantastic.
This is still probably my favorite Powell score. It has a lot of emotion along with a lot of action. I highly recommend it!
