This just in from Intrada:NIGHTCOMERS, THE
Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume 63
Date: 1972
Tracks: 23
Time = 40:12World premiere of complete original soundtrack from intense Michael Winner prequel to Henry James' "Turn of the Screw", starring Marlon Brando. Jerry Fielding makes rare foray into horror genre, spotlights dynamic contrast between pastoral exterior of tale, violent interior. Elegant brass & woodwinds assist in former, strings are heart of latter. Fielding balances accessible harmonies for gentle scenes with dark, cerebral ones for perverse behaviors, violence, then finally turns score inside out with cold, atonal finish playing in total opposition to prim & proper beginning. Brilliant! Intrada CD presents entire score in sequence from original stereo session masters in superb condition. Authoritative notes from Nick Redman, dramatic graphics from Joe Sikoryak complete package. Jerry Fielding conducts. Special Collection release limited to 1500 copies!

Me too.
I see a certain poster from andyfilm.com has stated he can't watch the film anymore because of the subtext of the film.
Think he still looks for Reds under the bed? LOL

I saw "Wargames" multiple times in 83, which I think was a peak year for me in terms of the summer movie experience (Blue Thunder, ROTJ, Octopussy 4 times, Superman III). It's one of those movies from the early-mid 80s dealing with Cold War themes that I just can't watch today in light of what my adult mind now sees was the subtext of the film.

I had only seen Wargames one time while in the Command and General Staff College at Leavenworth. I came in one evening and it had just started so I watched it. It wasnt too bad. That was in the summer/fall of 84 on HBO. I had the LP already having gotten in in OKC for 2 dollars. Only thing bad about it was all the dumb dialogue and sound effects on it. BTW the Winner None cue is wrong on that old LP. The dialogue that goes with it is earlier in the film. I saw it again on AMC the other night after 25 years and I chuckled at some of it but the score is good especially that Winner None cue. What is interesting is to see this and Tron and compare it to the computer and games now. Quite interesting. Some of the terminology in both still used.
