Andrew: NO. Look, you are going to tear into this thing and bring up every little detail of what you don't like about Spielberg and assume it's part of the final cut here; for all we know, the ILM shots are not even fully rendered, nor the film colour-timed to perfection. Take it easy. I think your arguments are lousy here, and by the way you mentioned The Diving Bell And The Butterfly as one of the "TOP 10" films from last year, so why rail into Kaminski over a trailer? The "Part time!" shot is great!

Sean, I firmly believe that you'll be eating your words come May. You have a tendency to get very excited about big things and you only get let down by them. I know you were excited by that Star Trek trailer (personally, I thought it looked as if Michael Bay directed it), but we all know where that film is headed: Harlan Ellison's "I hate this sh!t" list. Abrams' is gonna rape your childhood, and he's going to be laughing at you while it's happening. It's the Phantom Menace-syndrome for both series joyous return to the cinemas. I hate to be so cynical, but I haven't seen anything really outstanding from either production. And with three of the most over-indulgent screenwriters working today providing the scripts, these films will fall flat.

Brian, that's what I'm talking about. And Andrew, seriously, I don't remember the last time that I felt let down from a series, or film (singular). The last thing I was really, really excited about was Battlestar Galactica: Razor and that delivered in spades; before that, maybe Casino Royale, which seriously impressed me; going back even further, Batman Begins and Superman Returns, both of which are tremendous films, IMO. So, literally, I don't know what you're talking about: If you know something that I don't about "big things" I get excited about than please elaborate. As for Star Trek, all that footage was shot specifically for that teaser (and not by J. J. Abrams!), so don't crucify it, yet. What did I like about it? The look of the Enterprise; Michael Giacchino's music; Kennedy's space speech. What didn't I like? The welders, because that's just plain silly; Leonard Nimoy's narration, which seems to be there solely for idiots; and the Bruckheimer/Bay-look to it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't we on the same page here? Again, I don't understand what you're writing about, so elaborate: "You've abandoned your boy. SAY IT!!!"

I think I'm with Sean on this one. New Line does this a lot, a trailer will look completely different than what's actually in the film, a lot of times due to color-timing, CG not being complete and brightening the image over-all. I'll wait to see the finished product. Though this teaser could've been much better after seeing it again last night... maybe I'm still just angry it's in mono...

I have here, in my hand, the five reasons why I feel impending doom upon Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Star Trek XI:1. George Lucas
2. David Koepp
3. Aliens
----------------
4. Roberto Orci
5. Alex Kurtzman
Maybe I'm just too cynical and need to turn in my geek card in exchange for an artsy-fartsy card. The thing is, I don't want to give up my geek card!

I agree with both. Yes, we all saw what happened with the Star Wars prequels and in the back of my mind I am afraid for Indy 4, but Spielberg himself said he'd be going back to the roots of the series for this one using very minimal CG elements (mostly for backgrounds). I really think Spielberg knows exactly what he is doing here, but I also think that Lucas and Spielberg might be losing it because of age? I mean look at the star wars prequels, war of the worlds, and Spielberg putting his name on crap films like Transformers...I mean c'mon, Shia?I do think this was a quickly cut together teaser where all the FX haven't been finalized. I like to be optimistic about films like this. Again, it's only the first teaser.

This won't be the first time Kaminski has worked on an Indiana Jones film.I remember that a TV special on the making of Temple of Doom showed parts of the rope bridge sequence being filmed in California. If memory serves,Kaminski was listed in the end credits for that shoot. It always seemed that the film takes on a sharper focus /color in the scene where Indy stops in his run across the bridge at the sight of Mola Ram and his goons at the other side.Wonder if this particular shot was Slocombe's or Kaminski's?

If I remember correctly, Kaminski only began doing intern and smaller crew work in 1986 or 1987.Doom was filmed in 1984. Only one of us is right.

Andrew: WHY YOU'RE AN IDIOT: You try and convince me that Mission: Impossible 3 is the best of the bunch due to J. J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman, and Roberto Orci; Indiana Jones ditto, you're just being gkgyver, zimmerito, and Loud_Goldberg, no one is impressed. Seriously, what's up, dude? I honestly don't get it, and I honestly don't get your non-response to my post which has garnered me positive response otherwise.

FIGHT!
And the one who is right is you. This morning when I got up, the name Allen Daviau popped into my head.It was he,not Kaminski, who was on the second unit of Temple of Doom. What they say about the subconscious solving problems when you sleep is entirely true.I only wish it could have the helm sometimes during waking hours. This is what I get for belittling your research on an earlier thread. The carpenters' adage is hereby amended to "Check facts twice, post once."

Whoa whoa whoa... You call Transformers crap yet you make no mention what-so-ever about Twister?!?! Come on now... Have you ever seen anyone freak out about a twister "missing this house and missing that house and coming after you?!" Pretty amazing...
As for Shia, I think that he's actually one Hollywood's more tallented actors. He was great in Even Stevens... that last part was a joke, as I don't watch the Disney Channel... Not that I'd know it was on that specific channel... Christy Carlson Romano... Anyway, I also liked War of the Worlds, aside from the end. I thought it was a pretty straight forward sci-fi action/horror film that got the job done and did it right. Same with John Williams' score for the movie. It fit perfectly, it was creepy and low. The special effects in War of the Worlds and the sound design and vissuals were all top notch if you ask me.

It's been some years for me to look back upon M:I-3, and, honestly I was wrong for calling it "the best of the bunch" (which I did quite frequently). None of the sequels have been able to hold a candle to DePalma's original masterpiece, but I'd rather watch Abram's stunt spectacular than John Woo's hilarious spoof of Tom Cruise action films. I still don't understand how you can possibly like that movie, aside from the nice editing continuity.
It's just the fact that Indy is near and dear to my heart, and it seems that everyone involved in production has a different way of selling the film; and only one of those sells made it to this teaser trailer: George frakkin' Lucas! Ditto was Trek, I'm just planting my roots as a fan, and I'm fearing this being the first Trek film that I'm really excited about and finally get to see in a cinema. Don't forget what I've said about Kurtzman's and Orci's script for Transformers! ATTICA! ATTICA!

I actually think Williams' score to War of the Worlds saved the film. I thought the casting in that film were bad. Spielberg likes to cast "novelty" child actors aka Dakota Fanning, Shia , and Jonathan Ke Quan for example. Watch Dakota Fanning in War of the Worlds closely and you'll see what I am talking about. And I thought Twister had some very good scenes...and yes some corny. I imdb him and look at what he has produced...seems kinda hit or miss. Just put your name on everything and get lucky.

Had to "hide it" because apparently Paramount has an all stop warrant out for any official content related to Indiana Jones.
