"This picture is locked, Steven's pretty much done editing. And we're going into the phase with John Williams where he starts scoring the movie. He's really writing now and then we'll start scoring in February."
--Frank Marshall in EmpireSilly rag that Empire, but that quote excites me more than any of this ridiculous Hobbit business, or anything else at the moment! And check out the missile launcher!
Thank goodness, Spielberg knows how to lock a picture on time!!! We won't get a retarded/botched/ham-fisted edit with music treated like dirty toilet paper, like George Lucas would have done.[Message edited by sean on 01-30-2008]

Ummmm, you didn't even mention what movie you're talking about, Sean, and I have to register with Empire to read the article.I'm not following the Indiana Jones thing at all, but I presume this is what we're discussing?

Ah, come on Jeron... you must know that that was a slightly tongue-in-cheek post commenting on the rabid enthusiasm of the Indy fans (and my lack of it). No?

HA! gkgyver, honestly, if you're more excited excited about Hobbits than Indiana Jones go off on your merry way and prance around in the Shire for a bit to work out those kinks... Try humour, it works for everyone else, I don't see why it can't work for you: call it The Great Experiment, or whatever floats your boat. See, NeoVoyager is a funny individual and that person had it right in it's response to my shameless Indiana Jones spam! And further, I don't care who or what is scoring The Hobbit, it can NEVER be as exciting or as good as a NEW Indiana Jones score!

So, can you actually write about other scores you've heard other than LotR, or scores you haven't heard but feel like adding your useless two-cents to (I'm writing about your insane Bourne Ultimatum comments here)?
So, anyway, more important stuff: John Williams, Indiana Jones.

I don't think gkgyver would be so insolent if he'd heard your RAMBO score, Sean. The duet for tuba and kettle drum on 'My name is John' is stirring and heartbreaking like too little film music is these days.

It's true, because than he'd see the light. If he's so inclined I can send him all the LotR posters we have at work collecting dust, and I'm sure when New Line sends us Hobbit propaganda than he can have all the character posters for that enchanting film, too. I already grabbed the good stuff: Rambo, Star Trek, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, The Dark Knight, and Blade Runner.

"That person"? "it's response"? LOL! My name's Michael. I just haven't wanted to mess up my account by asking for it to be changed.

But back to the point: while I was humorously commenting on the fact that you assumed we all knew what you were talking about, I was perfectly serious about not following the Indy 4 thing at all.
Perhaps it's because it's slightly before my time, or because I haven't bothered to see the previous Indy movies... but I could hardly be less concerned with the upcoming film or score. Heck, I've never even seen either Star Wars trilogy.

2010 - on the other hand - can't come soon enough. And just so you know where I'm coming from in my anticipation of 'Hobbit' over Indiana Jones... I've never read any of the Tolkien books and don't have any materials related to the movies besides the scores. I've seen the movies once.

Don't worry, the inability to differentiate between fans of the movies and fans of the books, or fans, shock!, of both is anything but a new phenomenon.

Neo, I'm glad you caught and found what I wrote humorous, that's how it's done. At least you can laugh about it.It doesn't matter to me that someone isn't concerned with the impending release of a film; there are far more important things going on in the world for each of us, so it doesn't shock or emote any sort of reaction whatsoever from myself that you haven't seen Star Wars or Indiana Jones... There's plenty I haven't seen, either, and will likely never see. It's a forgone conclusion that I'm not watching The Hobbit and that shouldn't bother anyone. Clearly, it bothers pompous windbags like gkgyver that Indiana Jones films/scores register quite highly for me, so far so that I'm willing to read a bit off my rocker when posting shameless and exciting info on that upcoming feature, and far beyond any movie where your heroes are drunk Irish midgets trying to show us that even the smallest person can do big things (that doesn't put me at full salute).

It would make sense to me, but it's late at night, and I don't have the nerves left to explain the history of the Crystal Skulls and their connection to extraterrestrial life. And besides, would that be any different than the reuse of Anakin's Betrayal in War Of The Worlds?

And with the trailer's appearance on Valentine's Day, does that mean that Paramount and Lucasfilm only anticipate one trailer (and no teaser)? For such a high-profile and anticipated release as this, you'd think we'd been seeing more. I'm predicting a stinker with this one; granted, I'll be first in line and giddy as hell to see it, but The Phantom Menace-fear is about to strike all over again.

You're just a stick in the mud, made all the more clear by your disappointing but not surprising response to Michael and simply your "addition" to this thread.
