I may end up eating my words, but I for one think there is great potential with this latest Indy adventure.

    POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT -

From the rumours that I have heard, the intro scene is Indy battling Russian agents in Area 51 in which I could definitely see the CEOTK theme fitting in nicely if quoted. I have also heard that the Ark resurfaces (which apparently Lucas has always said would happen)and is a major device of the plot so we'll get a nice resurrection of the Ark themes. I would love an even more grandiose rendition of "Trek of the Ark",if this is true...although I wanted a choral version of the Imperial March in REVENGE OF THE SITH and didn't get it, so I won't hold my breath on that one. But you've got Spielberg, Williams, a great cast, the return of Marion (which was a bold choice BTW), a great scriptwriter. Spielberg's push to shoot nothing digitally and stick to a more classic editing style....I have to believe there is great potential in this sequel even with George's input.

I'm assuming that "great scriptwriter" refers to David Koepp, right?

As far as a blockbuster screenwriter, for very marketable films like CARLITO'S WAY, JURASSIC PARK, THE LOST WORLD, SPIDERMAN,PANIC ROOM,WAR OF THE WORLDS...maybe not all of these are GOODFELLAS, but they are very blockbuster worthy. And obviously, this guy must be delivering a better story than Frank Darabont and M. Night since they were discarded a long time ago. And M. Night has a lot to make up for after the ending to THE VILLAGE and the self indulgent travesty LADY IN THE WATER, IMHO.

    M. Night would do himself good to set down the pen and get away for a few years; no one would miss him.

Word is that everyone but Lucas liked Darabont's pitch. He's a real movie buff kind of guy, and I'm sure he was dead-on with his pitch. Besides, you can't make Lucas happy with anything but crap. He's the real naked Emperor.

    And Koepp is Spielberg's go-to-guy; he would've done a phantom re-write anyhow.

Hahaha, yeah, true. He has made some crap lately. Yeah, I have heard rumors about this whole thing taking place in south america (the first scene in raiders) and it being a very supernatural film. Maybe extra terrestrials (evidence the myans were actually contacted by them), but I do hope they stick to anything religious. I am glad to hear they are going back to the roots. I just hope it is done tastefully. Dont get to corny with old harrison or stupid childlike one liners from shia.

HAHA!!! From you! Spielberg/Koepp are not as bad as you pretend they are. It's just a matter of getting over yourself. I could be wrong, though. I just woke up from a horrific nightmare nightmare of Lord Humongous from The Road Warrior chasing me through an oil field, hell bent on killing me, and I had even cut his hockey mask head off at one point!!! LMAO! I'm sure Michael has this recurring Aussie nightmare and he can sympathize: Knowing him it would be Shine chasing him with piano wire.

We shall see in a few days, I guess, according to something I had read, maybe even on here, about the trailer being released on Valentine's Day. They should've had one a long time ago, especially for the Superbowl with its record breaking audience.

I had also heard from a friend about the crystal skulls being used by the Mayans to contact extra-terrestrials and that the plot featured this. I don't know what to trust anymore. I just really like that opening scene idea at Area 51. And I do know that they did shoot some scenes in New Mexico.

But all of this is null regarding the music. We know that Williams will deliver, as he did for us with the horrendous Star Wars prequels. His music was the only thing that was consistently good regarding these movies. Not even Lucas can mess that up.

No, in mine there's a crocodile, and Steve Irwin tries to rescue me, but Paul Hogan kills him and crows to the dying hunter: 'You call that a knife? THIS is a knife.'

Sean, watch where you praise Koepp around my house when you come down for President's Day. We don't have no speakin' about no Stir of Echoes, it don't exist in this dojo.

Also of note, I think I've found an Kingdom of the Crystal Skull tie-in video game: http://www.herinteractive.com/prod/cry/index.shtml .

It seems only right that they try and cater to ALL audiences.

Dammit! I don't want no aliens in my Indiana Jones movies! Only religious mumbo-jumbo. Hasn't Beardberg made enough movies about aliens?!

I agree, I'd much rather have the artifact be religiously based because I think that is a major theme with Indy - the conflict between science and faith. But I still thought I could take a quick scene at the start of the new movie at Area 51 and then it be done with. No aliens even need to be seen, just Indy battling the Russian forces there. We know that at the time (the 50's) this was a highly classified location shrouded in secrecy. Perfect for Indy to kick off his next adventure. I am hoping that the stuff about the Ark returning is true. The Russians trying to get ahold of it is very plausible especially after they confiscated a majority of the Nazi secrets at the end of WWII.

But don't blow a gasket just yet. Well have a better idea of what is about within the next couple days when the official trailer is released.
