    RAMBO

    Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Music Composed, Orchestrated, Conducted, Programmed, Performed, Edited, Mixed, and Produced by Sean O'Neill

    SYLVESTER STALLONE
    JULIE BENZ

The next chapter finds Rambo recruited by a group of Christian human rights missionaries to protect them against pirates, during a humanitarian aid deliver to the persecuted Karen people of Burma. After some of the missionaries are taken prisoner by sadistic Burmese soldiers, Rambo gets a second impossible job: to assemble a team of mercenaries to rescue the surviving relief workers.

Stallone directs his own follow-up to the critical and commercial success ROCKY BALBOA. He is also the sole screenwriter on the franchises fourth installment.

The film's adrenaline-charged score is from famed Canadian newcomer Sean O'Neill. The talented O'Neill played multi-tasker and multi-instrumentalist on the multi-ethnic score; his first for a major motion picture. The score also features performances from legendary guitar players Michael Brook, Heitor Pereira, and two-time Oscar winner Gustavo Santaolalla as well as breathtaking sound design by multi-talented Mel Wesson and vocal performances by Lebo M.

Lionsgate release RAMBO nationwide on January 25th.

Being a Lionsgate release, I'm not getting my hopes up for anything more than an itunes release of Tyler's score. I sure hope I'm wrong though.

This is a RAMBO film for pete's sake. Unless Lion Gates thinks the various soundtrack labels are lowballing them with their offers, there's no way this does not get released.

and hasn't Lions Gate released many CDs on their own label for their films, sometimes a score CD and a songs Cd?

Well, the last two Brian Tyler scores for Lionsgate I can think of were BUG and WAR. The BUG score is only available on itunes, and while there was an album for WAR, the complete score was an itunes exclusive release, even though I'm pretty sure it would still have easily fit on a CD.

Thankfully, Lionsgate did eventually put out a CD of 3:10 TO YUMA, which I'm very greatful for, considering it's one of my favorite scores of the year.

whoops i was thinking of LAKESHORE. but you're right about WAR.

As far "no sense of humor"......it's rehash of something that wasn't even funny the first time. Don't we have better material?

Lakeshore's done the itunes exclusive thing too on occasion, which I find disappointing, but just counting the physical CDs they put out, they're actually one of my favorite labels at the moment. They did IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOON, another 2007 favorite of mine, and lately I've been playing their release of Mansell's SMOKIN' ACES score more than any other CD.

Later this month with UNTRACEABLE they should also be releasing the first Christopher Young score to come out in quite awhile.

So what if it's a rehash? Geez, lighten up and learn to laugh a little.

TJ must be a fan of Gustavo Santaolalla . . .

In that case, he'll love this score. I was able to attend one recording session in Canada and I met Gustavo. He was very plesant. The movie is looking really kick-ass!

Hey, we're professional comedians here. We decide what's funny and what's not and use that to entertain you! You have no say in what's funny or what's not as you're not the professional so sit back, drink that "punch", and laugh! .... I SAID LAUGH!!!

Are you kidding? What did I tell you about being a comedian... But seriously, they're the greatest thing ever. They've won awards... and stuff. Repeatedly... for reasons I can't quite understand. Maybe someone could explain it to me someday. I still don't see what's so great about Brokeback Mountain either. It's just 2 cowboys in love that are trying to hide it... I think that's a pretty typical storyline if you ask me. Nothing to get all excited about.

Maybe so, but your track titles were the false ones. Sean considered including some of your cue names, but in the end, he referred to them as too "Kanga-sensitive".

Sean or nuts, can you assure me that there will be bagpipes in this score? I've heard 'em in space and now I want to hear them in full blown out action scenes... with guns ablaze... that isn't Horner.

Yes Chris, fortunately, you will hear a blaze of bagpipes in track 17, "Rambodammerung"; but I think that Sean used them unlike any composer before. When I inquired as to why he would be using synth bagpipes in Rambo he said the following: "Jimmy Horner has always been one of my favorites, and this is my little homage to him. I love you Jim!"

So I think it's very safe to say that the bagpipes won't be very Horner-esque.
