    Well, this hopefully comes as good news. Looks like we're on schedule with three new releases this coming Tuesday. As usual, we'll post them Monday evening about 5:15 our time. I know there's been a lot of movie music coming out lately so wallets and purses are probably wearing thin. And we're doing our part to keep it that way! (If nothing else, it gives you more stuff to put on your Christmas wish lists.)

    Happily, we're also on target with a new batch of ALIEN CDs arriving at the same time. If you don't have one on back-order already, just add it to your choices from the new releases and we'll ship them all together.

    Regarding those three new ones. Don't look for another ALIEN-caliber title in this batch. We can't knock it out of the ballpark every time. (Save that for January!) But we do have an intense actioner from the seventies, an old-fashioned orchestral show-piece set in ancient times plus an oft-requested thriller, all promising to keep you busy during the coming holidays!

    What could they be?

    I'm going with The Mechanic, One Night with the King, and Jaws 3-D.

    We'll see how well I did come Monday...

    why Jaws 3-D? I'd much prefer Jaws 2!

    Jaws 2 won't be popping up in this batch. Just read Roger's press release for Metalstorm and tell me Jaws 3-D isn't a lock for his second clue.

    NP: Something that's not Jaws or Jaws 3-D…

    By the way, TJ, Indy's on the way.

    I see where you're going. That's certainly plausible.

    I'm not sure if I'd be interested in a Jaws sequel not scored by Williams himself (especially at a premium price), but I'm sure it'd be a welcome release to many in the fandom of Jaws. Whats sad is i don't even know who composed Jaws 3-D. I think Michael Small composed the 4th.

    It was Alan Parker (the composer NOT the director).

    I don't get the excitement for this score.

    Okay. It is JAWS 3-D by Alan Parker.

    Here's the info on all 3 releases:

    JAWS 3-D/Alan Parker

    Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume 54
    Date: 1983
    Tracks: 12
    Time = 35:45

    World CD premiere of original soundtrack from third installment of legendary shark thriller franchise, made in 3-D, directed by Joe Alves, starring Dennis Quaid, Bess Armstrong, Louis Gossett, Jr. Alan Parker hits on famous John Williams shark motif, then takes off on his own. Exciting score anchors with rousing, fanfare-theme for Florida Seaworld locale. Tender moments for Kay & Mike appear but bulk of score spells danger. Parker scores for full orchestra, often gives spotlight to vibrant French horn passages. In balance are ample moments for expected see-saw cellos & basses. Intrada presents all contents of original MCA label LP direct from original stereo album masters. Alan Parker conducts. Intrada Special Collection limited release of 3000 copies. Just remember... the third dimension is terror!

    01. JAWS 3-D Main Title 2:58

    MECHANIC, THE/Jerry Fielding

    Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume 55
    Date: 1972
    Tracks: 29
    Time = 77:27

    Wow! World premiere release of complete Jerry Fielding score for Michael Winner thriller takes all 27 minutes of music from earlier albums, then offers additional 50 minutes of music previously unreleased! Fielding takes cue from methodical hitman played by Charles Bronson, creates incredibly complex work for orchestra. Chilling tone clusters for piano, knife jabs for brass, startling percussion... and cold, cerebral strings spell Fielding at his most intense! But composer is calculated, adds tiny wisp of warmth, keeps everything just out of balance. Intrada CD presents entire score from original multi-track stereo session masters, courtesy of MGM. CD also includes exciting big band source cues composer wrote for film plus alternate end titles. Authoritative text from director/composer expert Nick Redman plus musical analysis from FSM's Lukas Kendall illuminates every complicated moment! Arguably Fielding's most dramatic work! Jerry Fielding conducts. Intrada Special Collection release limited to 1500 copies!

    Roger posted some additional clues over at the Intrada forums, and based on those and Doug's clues, these were the scores that made the most sense.

    NP: Las 13 Rosas (Roque Baños)

    I just got ONE NIGHT and I am very much enjoying. A pleasant surprise after some lackluster score listening's the past few weeks.

    Its good we are getting more of Fieldings stuff on CD. Several of his have come out lately.

    I saw the last few mins of the ONe Night with the King late one night. Move was so-so, the music was ok though.
