I found this little post on the message boards at Filmtracks, in response to someone who likes it here more than there.
quote:

> Peter Kelly who runs a better site then this said the truth - Clemmensen's

> Only stupids stay here.

1. What's the definition of running a better site? Filmtracks just crushes moviemusic.com into the ground.
A. More informative. Kelly's reviews go more for the "hey, let's be witty" angle and can always be guaranteed to be a paragraph. CC's reviews allow for more depth, thematic evaluation, etc and are a much better way of evaluating if you would like this score or not.

B. The message board on moviemusic reeks of fanboy. Organizing it into all the little subsections seems like a move, but the substance just isn't there. The Filmtracks community seems to have a much better knowledge base rather than this:
http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/016124.html

or this: http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/014219.html

or, even better, this:
http:// www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/016091.html

Apprently we...I mean you are all a bunch of musically uneducated fanboys :-D

What an ugly thread... we're just killing ourselves, little by little. Thank for keeping these kinds of posts far away from here. I prefer threads where people call each other moths to what I see above.

LOL

Pete's right though, we're a minority, we should at least support each other even if we're not united.

The scary thing about Filmtracks is that alot of violent and mentally disturbed people post there. There are constent death threats and hate messages posted towards Clemmensen and to members of the message board. Not to mention the religious activist with questionably beleifs.

As for the reviews, well if you had been reading them since 1996 like I have you know that Clemmensen's enthusiasm for film music was just as strong as ours. And he probably would have been a great member to the MM.com board. Until around 2000 when he apparently saw what the money making potentional of his reviews could mean, as well as the type of relationship he could have with record labels and composers. Some say that he has has changed his reviewing techniques (or developed one) that pleases the record labels and composers more than the fans of his site. And he admited the readers of his reviews are not the ones making the site money, and the new editorial structure of the reviews were more agreeable to record labels.

His reviews are only questionable to me when I don't understand if he liked or disliked a score. He goes on about, how the movie was made and how the composer got the gig, and so on then in the last paragraph he'll mention some general things about the score, without an opinion on it, until you see the star rating.

Uneducated fanboy?!

I'm officially offended.

These aren't the droids you're looking for.

I think it's lame to even try to compare the two sites. They are entirely different, each with its own objectives and intentions.

Yeah, the fanboy thing disturbed me. Isn't the whole point of a film music forum to have many people interested in the subject come and discuss it. When I visit the site, I see them discuss the same things we do. But for the reason of professionalism and the members on these forums, I have not contributed to that site. I got into film music a few years ago and thought the only composer out there was John Williams. But because of all you guys on the forums, I have learned quite a bit.

Better atmosphere, better forums, sells scores, site design is more pleasing, and most of all, better people.

I don't know who wrote that but it is very childish.
