Wtf... re-making a 2002 movie? Have they run out of ideas?Oh, and good news on Beltrami. He certainly has the horror sound down.

Probably a last-minute effort to try and push up the scare-quotient. I was at Lionsgate when the rough cut was being assembled and the execs weren't very pleased. I recall one of the producers claiming that the director "can't make a single scare." Someone had also sent over a CD of Beltrami's Live Free or Die Hard around the same time, so apparently someone's been pushing Beltrami pretty hard over there. So good news for Beltrami as far as a nice paycheck goes, but it doesn't look like the film will do much to inspire.

Beltrami delivered a tired retread, strange given the time between the two, of his Omen music for this past summer's Captivity. He's becoming to horror films what Danny Elfman became to super-hero movies.

At least we have In the Electric Mist to look forward to a more different Beltrami.
And did Captivity look exciting or inspiring enough to illicite a new, groundbreaking score? Hardly; Marco might have just wanted his check so that he didn't have to eat Ramen noodles that weekend.

I agree that 3:10 is pretty cool, way better than Live Free Or Die Hard (I've tried and tried to enjoy this score, but am continually let down by it).
I see what you're saying about inspiration being hard to come by with a terrible film, like Captivity which was atrocious, but other composers like Goldsmith and Zimmer make careers out of causing bad movies to sound great.
Beltrami is in a tough spot, being pegged with so many horror films. I'd love to hear him score something grand and totally different than his norm, like Star Trek XI (sans electronics!!!).
