This is a bit OT but since no one goes to those other boards on this site I think I'll share my word here. I know we have a lot of Trek fans here (Sean and Jeron for sure, myself, I'm a fledgling) and I know that many of them have probably heard the plot leaks regarding the 11th film. AICN reported today about some more leaks and none other than Harlan Ellison chimed in with his feelings which can be read here.

I had always heard he was an unpleasant man; but after this, I seriously love the man and I will now be searching out his work.

Ha! I have his "City on the Edge of Forever" script around somewhere.

I haven't read the plot links, Andrew, and will not read them. So, I'll have to abstain from reading Ellison's comments, unfortunately. I did, however, check out those WICKED pictures of Zachary Quinto as Spock over at IESB: He certainly looks the part! I'm more confident about this film than ever (at least the Nimoy/Quinto-Spock aspect of it all; and of course, the casting of Eric Bana as Nero is just brilliant); the score is a different story.

I've met him a couple of times and he can be upleasant but you shouldn't let that deter you from his work. It's pretty good.

But from my experience, unpleasant people can command some powerful work on the page, stage, and screen. Hell, my favorite actor of all-time is Klaus Kinski. Now tell me that he wasn't unpleasant!

While we're at it, here's Ellison on a writer getting his/her due:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj5IV23g-fE

And Harlan Ellison is a magnificent human being, one of my heroes - not only is he the greatest writer in our galaxy (I have no problem voting "Angry Candy" as the greatest short story collection ever, nor do I mind voting "Spider Kiss" as one of the great novels of all-time...the other 12 books of his I've read are masterpieces, as well), but he's also the most hilarious and intelligent loud mouth of the last twenty or thirty years. He says it like it is and calls it as he sees it, with amazing, unflinching and often scathing conviction and wit. I adore him.

"Everyone else can be an ass hole, but I'm not!" -- The Harlan Ellison quote of the century!

    Great video, btw.

    Second only to:

"I don't take a piss without getting paid for it!"

The truthful vitriol sprays long from his tooth. I'd love to have him by my side at a WGA strike rally.
