I was wondering if they were gonna do something like this... I've got all three soundtracks, but the packaging looks classy and streamlined, now.

Considering that there is no new score, and the sound mix is the same, I doubt many owners of the 3 CDs would see any value in this. $75 is quite a hefty price for a nice box.

    Poodle.

For $75, I think I'd rather buy Return of the King AND Battlestar Galactica, but that's just me.

I think it's fine if they want to release this box set. It makes sense. I mean, you have three wildly successful films and the soundtrack sales were undoubtedly good. If people want to buy, good for them -- they're only helping the film music industry.

That would require extra effort on their part, we'd be asking too much. I hope they do so, too, but am not optimistic.

I remember Hans talking about releasing the suites (and demos) that he wrote for the movie. It's music written not against pictures and were used as temp tracks prior to scoring. I think Dan Goldwasser mentioned that the Hoist The Colours suite was used as end credit music. It's not that dissimilar to the Gladiator Waltz demo that he released with the Gladiator sequel CD.

There's a new england based CD shop called Newbury Comics that swaps CDS. I might special order the set from there and sell them my old copy. I figure I can get about $5 - $10 from Pirates 1 depending on how many scratches are on it.

This is as worthless as buying the Original Trilogy box set Lucas released again. I mean why should someone pay that much to buy the CD's again if they all ready have them just for the DVD? That doesn't make sense.

The DVD is a behind the scenes thing for the movies, not more music.

I doubt there's any unreleased material with this box set. Like I said what's the point of buying it?

Have you not read the track listing?

    4 CDs & 1 DVD.

It's a reissue of the 3 original CD release. Then 1 CD of unreleased suites and demos with some remixes at hte end
Then the DVD with behind the scene stuff.

New suites, demos and remixes...ooooo (sarcasm).

Anyone in their right mind would not pay to get this just for that crap. I know I certainly wouldn't. Like I said that would be wasting your money almost like wasting your money on buying the Original Trilogy score box set that Lucas re-released this year with the Target Correlian edition and a CD rom of digital art for the original LP packaging, posters and inserts. No thanks.

Well, Trent, I've got a lot of money and I like the looks of that 4th CD, so I've placed my pre-order for it, regardless of the fact that I own all 3 original scores (I'll just sell them off). At World's End is the best score of the year, so I'm down for getting more music from it at pretty much any cost (I'll absorb the cost anyway in a few months). The only other money waster I'm willing to shell out for this year is The Return Of The King.

I actually think the At World's End album is fine as is, there's no extra music in the movie that I remembering wanting, but I'm pretty interested in hearing the concert arrangements Zimmer has compiled here for this release; remember, he went back and re-recorded these suites especially for the release.
