Picked this up today. Solid Rockestra score with some really rousing themes.Intrada summed it all up quite nicely, in my opinion.
Also thought it was cool of Mr. Jablonsky to send some signed copies of the score to the person who started the online petition!

That's cool about the signed copies. Good thing.I'm surprised people still try to get stuff at their local music stores. I think after a year or two of threads exactly like this one above that show us how easy it is to waste $3.10 per gallon gasoline driving around, we would have learned! But I think some of us have... instead of blowing $3.10, we're busting $0.05 a minute doing the phone calls. Also, the entire first shipment of supply has sold out in the MM store... so people are catching on.
All MM pre-orders shipped out on October 6th, and if Monday wasn't a post office holiday, most would have theirs in hand today or tomorrow.

The only store somewhat decent in regards to picking up soundtracks is F.Y.E. I used to work in one and they USUALLY got in a couple of copies of all the new soundtrack releases. They also keep them in stock for a decent amount of time too so they usually had a big collection in the store. Unfortunately the place is pricey. Probably better off getting it here.[Message edited by Bagtatta on 10-10-2007]

This is BS, what is the point of having a release date and getting all the fans excited if you don't get it to the stores. They complain about piracy yet they don't ship it to stores on time, wtf. If you don't want people pirating them, makes sure there are enough in stores (shoot, screw having enough, just get some in stores to begin with).Glad to hear that you guys are having the same problem as we are in Canada, just happy it's not only us. It is a crock, that the only place you can get it is online, when I went home yesterday I downloaded it in 10min or less. I would of loved to buy it but when they do this it forces you to download it.
At least it is legal to do that in Canada. A judge had said it's the same as having a photo copier in a Library.
If they were to make it a desent price and avalible people wouldn't have to download, who in their right mind will go to HMV and order it for 25.99???posted 10-10-2007 10:18 AM PT (US)

Is that good or bad?
Because the stuff on the "legally available in Canada" versions wasn't as good as what I remember from the movie.posted 10-10-2007 03:41 PM PT (US)

So I went to a dozen or so different places the last two days looking for this cd and I could not find it anywhere!!! Now I live in Orlando, Fl, which is a pretty big city and the fact that I couldn't find it anywhere upset me very much. Now, I had other errands to run so my trips weren't for nothing. But WTF!! I usually would have ordered it online, but I wanted this score as soon as it came out and figured I wouldn't have any problem finding it in Orlando. Boy was I wrong!! So then I decided to order it online and have it delivered next day. I went to a certain online site and lo and behold, they had it with an availability date of 1 to 3 weeks!!! Then I tried my trusty moviemusic.com and what to my surprise, they were out of stock!!! So again, WTF!!! Luckily I found on Amazon.com's marketplace and place that had it in stock and was able to get it. But my question is this, what with the release of this score being a big thing with the petition and all the hype on different websites, why is it so hard to find a copy? Do you have any idea Peter? This is very frustrating. I have had easier times finding limited edition scores than I have had with this.Jasom np Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny

Jas,
Big chains don't care. Remember, dumb people probably do the ordering if at all at stores like Best Buy. And places like Sam Goody will charge you 19.99 for it...your better of getting stuff online. I think the last CD I bought in a store was "Pirates 3"...and that was only because I knew that Best Buy would carry it. Other than that, online is the name of the game for me

I think even Amazon.com is shipping this in 1-2 weeks now. I guess they should have printed more than 32 copies!

Yeah, especially because there were at least 3000 signatures on that petition. But they are smarter than us, them label guys. 3000 signatures means 30 CDs sold and the rest downloads. They are smart for printing only 32. Duh.Jasom, perhaps the label was caught by surprise. No one wants to manufacturer stuff that ends up sitting around, and the way they look at it, they would rather have it sell out quickly than suffer by overestimating. So, we wait. The people who want it will get it when it's available again. Those who really wanted it and have truly given up on local stores pre-ordered it as soon as they heard about it.
This is the way it's going... and not just in the music world either. Lots of niche market collecting businesses are operating this way these days.

Yep. This is total BS. I live in Rochester, NY, not one single store has it. Not Target, Borders, FYE, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Circuit City, nobody. Lame!

Those who really wanted it and have truly given up on local stores pre-ordered it as soon as they heard about it.Peter, what you're saying makes sense. But, darthmaul brought up a good point: Many people will get frustrated with the score's unavailability in hard copy and will resort to downloading it, which is faster and costs next to nothing in return. After that, those who downloaded it are unlikely to go out and buy it. The label shot themselves in the foot with this one: The demand was obviously pretty high, regardless of only 3000 signatures on some petition (all they had to do was Google it and they would have seen that a string of psychopath Transformers message boards and blogs were itching for this music). The score was poorly promoted and distributed, and also poorly packaged (does anyone think this release looks cheap?).
Anyway, I've got no complaints on receiving mine on time: I pre-ordered it from Amazon.com (not .ca, that'd been suicide) the day it became available to pre-order and got it by 10am on the day of release.

Maybe all of the copies were sent to Atlanta, GA? I found one at a Barnes and Noble. And . . . I haven't listened to it; even though I just sat in roughly one hour of traffic. NPR was having some good stories about writers I admire, especially an interesting interview with Tom Wolfe. Whoops, I strayed off topic again.

I ended up with I-Tunes....due to my lifestyle right now (long hours at work and two kids under three) my IPOD has become the prime source of listening to my scores.
Quality...oh well.On the plus side...I am extremely happy with this score release. Every piece of music I loved from the movie is represented and expanded. I'm glad they went with arrangements rather than actual excerpts...much better representation!

I agree. They did a good job with the CD by releasing the best version of the thematic materials and included none of the filler wallpaper stuff.Though I'm starting to wonder whether it'll be worth it to get the 2disc release, if and when they decide to release it. Perhaps if it'll include ALL of the music and alternates composed for the movie.

I feel your pain, I live in Orlando as well. I hate to say it but, I couldn't wait any longer. I downloaded a torrent and will buy the retail CD when it finally decides to show up in stores, which will hopefully be this weekend or next week (along with the HD DVD). The distributors dropped the ball big time on this one, they should have known there was a decent demand for this score.

Yeah I thought this was funny, because on the front of the CD case there is a sticker thats says "20 tracks from the Original Motion Picture Score", but more than 50% of the tracks are'nt from the movie.

Besides which, they are ALL in the movie, but mixed differently. For example, take "Optimus": Same piece that's in the film, only a tad longer and arranged slightly different (the woodwinds are not in the film version).

Don't give them the satisfaction of getting more money by buying the 2 disc edition, just download the promo cd that came out about a month ago it contains some music not in this release.

I'm not big into the whole Media Ventures thing but the more I listen to Transformers the more I like it. I have the 52 track version and when combined with the OST it makes it a 2-CD set and nearly complete.I hope that Steve Jablonsky composes for the second film.

I have the 2cd "promo" version so I know what to expect. I just hoped that they would include much more than what was on the "promo". I would definitely buy it then.Armageddon score is still a better score in that respect. Oodles of thematic and melodic stuff that doesn't bores the listener to sleep.
Anyway..... anyone else still wants to get the 2disc Transformers version if they decide to release it?

Can someone please tell me where to find only the 52 cue score and not the song soundtrack and those videos? If they have it at Best Buy tomorrow, I'm buying it there and cancelling the order.
