    Who is scoring this?
    http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/ironman/

It looks great! Loved the usage of the Sabbath song.

Now I'll wait for nuts to tell me he's been a HUGE Iron Man fan all his life, since birth in fact, and that he's read all the comics/novels/graphic novels/colouring books yet has no faith in the film, the actors, and whatever composer is attached. J/K, of course.

Trailer looks really good, and yeah, obvious choice for a song in the trailer.

My only problem: I've never read the comics, don't know the story. Other than that.

Favreau usually has Debney score his movies. And he would be a great choice for this movie.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere that Favreau fought to have Debney on board but the producers wanted somebody else?

Maybe I'm wrong. I hope I am. He'd be perfect!

Sorry for the ignorance, but I didn't even know Jon Favreau was directing. That doesn't sit well with me, since there's nothing to date of his that I've enjoyed; perhaps Iron Man is his true calling, you never know. If John Debney can keep his mind off the temp than maybe he can do something with this. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind hearing someone new/fresh score this picture: I would imagine the studio, if they didn't want Debney, would have been gunning for Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, or James Newton Howard. JNH would be my pick from that lot.

Actually, I'm not a tremendous Iron Man fan (actually more of a DC Comics guy) but I just watched the trailer and it looks like a blast! Robert Downey, Jr. is one of my favorite actors and I'm really happy with his comeback career and I honestly think this material suits him well. He was very inspired casting (as much of the cast is, i.e. Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard, etc.). I sure do hope Debney stays on; he'll do well. Next summer is gonna rock with this and IJatKotCS (that's a mouth full!), John Frakkin' Rambo, and The Dark Knight! Maybe I'll like Hollywood films once again!

Yeah, I read it too. It was posted on a TalkBack for the trailer from a completely unreliable source. I think that guy has made numerous posts about Djawadi or Badelt scoring pictures, just to get a laugh from what I assume must be there huge "film score in-joke crowd" of which it seems only I'm a part of. Trust me, Debney is still on this project.

    Happy April Fools?!

Bleh, it seems that Paramount picked up even the crappy MV/RC composers with the DreamWorks purchase. Is Jon Favreau going to really let this pass? I had faith in him.

Batman Begins Co-Composer Scores IRON MAN
    By: Jarrod Sarafin, News Editor
    Source: Jon Favreau's Official Blog
    Date: Wednesday, October 17, 2007

Director Jon Favreau has published a blog on his official IRON MAN myspace page that composer Ramin Djawadi will be handling the soundtrack for his upcoming adaptation of Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.). Djawadi joined Media Ventures, the home of Hans Zimmer and has collaborated with Zimmer on BATMAN BEGINS and many other projects. He also contributed to Badelt's score of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN trilogy.

Here's what Favreau said about the composer set to handle his film..

Composer Ramin Djawadi started out his musical career as a guitar player in numerous bands in Germany. In 1995 he decided to move to the US to earn a bachelor's degree in film scoring and guitar performance at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. While still in college he became a member of the band "My Favorite Relative," who were nominated for seven Boston Music Awards in 1999.

In 2000, Ramin moved to California to join Media Ventures, home of Academy Award Winner Hans Zimmer, which led to collaborations as a composer and arranger for Klaus Badelt including featuring films "The Time Machine," "K-19: The Widowmaker," "Basic" and "The Recruit." Recently, he contributed music to Badelt's score to Jerry Bruckheimer's summer blockbuster "Pirates of the Caribbean."

He co-composed and produced the score for "Thunderbirds" together with Hans Zimmer. Other collaborations with Zimmer include "Something's Gotta Give" and "Batman Begins". Recent scores are "Blade: Trinity," the hit TV series "The Grid" and the Disney movie "Buffalo Dreams." After completing the score for "Ask the Dust," he is currently working on the hit TV series "Prison Break."

IRON MAN hits theaters May 2, 2008.

I saw IRON MAN last night. Excellent film! Unbelievably forgettable score. You all have heard it already. Guitar power chords, loops, and low strings. Ugh! I've never missed Debney so much in my life. The score wasn't a liability but it surely isn't an asset either.

Yup. Agreed. Haven't seen the film yet, looking forward to it, but David Arnold would have been a great pick. Oddly enough, and don't shoot me, but James Horner may have done a good job as well.

Eh, switch out one set of loops for another? Maybe. At least Arnold's would have more notes...and some horn clusters.

Guys, isn't it obvious that Michael Giacchino was born to score this?

But seriously, Debney aside (who would've given us a better rock-influenced score than Djawadi can hum), Arnold would kick ass with this material. So would Bruce Broughton . . . if only Hollywood wasn't so cruel.

Wow...this movie far exceeded my expectations...which were fairly high to begin with.

Production, screenplay, acting (big factor)...all worked. Excellent mix of humor, action, and character dynamics.

Yes, the score is forgettable, but was passable in its function of supporting the film.

I wanted to leave this movie: It was too slow, boring, and NONE of the action was memorable; I did think the computer hacking scene with Paltrow and Bridges was absolutely hilarious! (She types "TRANSLATE" into her computer and then the terrorist's foreign language on the video turns into the same guy's voice but speaking English! HAHAHAHA! And then Bridges' reaction when he sees that Paltrow downloaded all his files onto her portable USB drive... F*CK!HAHA!) It was also funny watching Robert Downey Jr. reenact his drug crazed days when Jon Favreau directed him to channel his inner heroin-junkie-needs-a-fix when he was crawling on the floor all crazy and sweaty to go get his second robotic heart: GOLD. The score: What a piece of junk! Cookie-cutter RC nothingness, it was terrible. I heard the 360 game for it has a better score with ACTUAL themes...
