So I didn't have any desire to see this movie really. The first preview made me go "oh fun!" and then I just started losing interest.

Once I actually saw the film, I actually thought it was a lot of fun. I was worried Downey Jr might get on my nerves if I had to put up with 2 hours of him being a cocky jack@$$. Luckily, the other characters played off him somewhat so it didn't get to old. What did bother me was the end fight sequence. I've seen it before, in a movie called Transformers.

The score... I don't remember a single note of it. I remember in the theater going "there is no theme to this music at all..." It felt like a crappy version of Batman Begins mixed with Black Hawk Down to make a completely forgetable score.

The video game does have MUCH better music. Jeron, may I ask if you know who composed?

If it's the 2007 game called "The Invincible Iron Man" then according to IMDB it's someone by Guy Michelmore. Never heard of him before.

I don't think Elfman would have been brilliant for this one, but definitely JNH, or maybe even Zimmer

Iron Man has as a motif, just not one that's complex to be called a theme - it's a four-note bit heard in a few pieces of the score.

Michelmore did the score for the dvd-only "Invincible Iron Man". Mark Grisky did the music for the game. Here's an interview with him... http://www.music4games.net/Features_Display.aspx?id=257

Notch one more "I aim to be different" quip in Sean's belt. That's a laughable critique of this movie. If you thought it was boring then I am quite interested what you consider energetic and fun.

    Whatever.

Having seen the film again, I must say that there is about 2-minutes of music that I enjoy. The primary theme (if you can call it that) played over the suit building montages (in the cave and in the workshop) is actually quite effective and catchy. Far from quality music...but like I said, serviceable.

HAHA! Come on! It's not an "I aim to be different" comment on my part; I just flat out didn't enjoy the movie, and just because you did doesn't mean I'm not into "energetic and fun." Iron Man was anything but. Energy and fun, that's easy: Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and The Dark Knight.

Well, those films aren't out yet my friend. While I have nothing but through the roof expectations for them, I am still dumbfounded that you actually found Iron Man boring.

Oh well, as I am a proponent of freedom of opinion, I will let you have this one...but wow.

I found Iron Man to be boring after its second act; after that it all went downhill into some rushed, badly written comic book ending -- almost to say that they wanted to get the movie over with and the audience out for another screening. There seems to be a big chumk of plot missing, and, IMHO, the film loses big points for that. But, like I've said, the cast (excluding Terrence Howard, who's Jim Rhodes character only exists to be Jim Rhodes/War Machine and to call off jets whenever the CGI budget gets high) is exceedingly great (and Jeff Bridges is a great villian, who becomes one-note and cliche in-between the second and third acts) and the humor lasts. Those two things, are the only things holding me back from dismissing this as another dismal comic book adaptation. I have my hopes for a REAL story in the sequel.

I finally saw this today and absolutely freaking loved every minute of it. The score serviced very well in the film and some of it, is okay on its own but it's something I won't listen to all the time.

I wouldn't call the third act boring, but it was of a considerable dip in quality compared to the first two acts. It springs from a lack of originality, I suppose, because the final fight is rather basic after we've just watched two-thirds of a film that is relatively original.

Like nuts_score said, the villain becomes the jealous, business-obsessed cliché, and it feels like there is more story to be told (probably about the Afghanistan section).

I thought the third act was utterly cheesy, mostly due to the completely over-the-top "Iron Monger" villain. Other than that, I found it very decent. Gywneth Paltrow was quite charming too (this was actually the first time I'd ever seen her).

This movie really just sprung out at me; I had never so much as heard of Iron Man until I saw a poster at my local theatre a few weeks ago, and since I didn't look into it at all then, had no idea what it was about until last week!

I think the score's alright. I'm willing to give Ramin Djawadi a chance. It might end up being a frisbee. As far as I can tell, not a lot of thematic material, just more textural and rhythmic stuff; more interesting to me than Brian Tyler, though. We'll see. I dug the movie a lot.
