Then you must think that the director-composer relationship is unimportant, which is odd, considering all those Spielberg-Williams films that helped make Williams into a household name...

What has one to do with the other? Do you think Williams writes/wrote great music for Spielberg because they are friends?
You don't have to be friends as long as they can clearly communicate what they want.
And vice versa: a good relationship doesn't mean good music.

By the way, what do you think of Arnold taking over the Bond series? (Or of non-Barry composers used, such as Hamlisch?) By your standards, it would seem that the Bond series must be hopelessly trashed because "musical continuity" was not preserved.

Musical continuity in the Bond series was always preserved because John Barry always returned to it after Conti, Martin, and Hamlish helped out. And all of those, Kamen too, stayed very well in the Bond tune without losing their personality.
Arnold, too. He's very adamant in maintaining a John Barry vibe because he knows what musical continuity is worth.

That's what would be good for the Harry Potter series as well.

Richest woman in the world? Hardly, she's not even in the top ten (the Walton women happen to be on top currently) Now, she is richer than the Queen, so the richest woman in England for sure, but world? No cigar.

As far as your comment who you would like to see rather than Williams, I'll remain silent on that issue, because I know I am Williams bias and know that you got your own biases, so no need to start a war here.

    ;-)

That would be Hans Zimmer. At least that's what I heard.

    .

    Ok, now THAT was funny.

That's okay, Scott - it's hard being a lemming, I know. My heart goes out to you for you and your predictable bias...

Well honestly, I think John Williams should have scored the whole damn series, they should have stayed steadfast and done whatever they needed to do to keep him on board. I hope this news is true. Thanks for sharing, Crono/Kyp.

Considering that Mike Newell had to fight the producers to get enough budget on HP4, I wonder if that might have been difficult.

    quote:
Promoting the film over the weekend, the British director said "I very clearly remember that within a couple of months of starting work I was intensely angered by the lack of money, that there wasn't enough money to make the film properly."

He gave the effects-laden Quidditch World Cup scene as an example of the debate between the film's makers and its producers where money was concerned. He argued successfully for its inclusion, saying Potter fans would feel short-changed without it.

Newell, did however, praise Warner Brothers for giving him creative freedom to explore the darker side of author JK Rowling's world.

(Like the composer he wanted, perhaps?)
