Since good things come in threes, I'll add my voice to the chorus here. Sean is making it hard for me to be the most obnoxious poster in this thread.

Until Lou Goldberg or Daniel2 starts posting again, he's got my vote!

Yeah, except that pompous windbag, gkgyver, decided he should slam scores based on other people's reviews and not articulate any of his arguments to anyone's satisfaction. He's an obstacle of minor importance, a chink in the chain. For the last time, stop insulting me for the fun of it!
ALL I SAID WAS: "NOT INTERESTED", you frickin' hypocrite!

And as far as being uninformed about something, where do you get off attacking other posters? I seem to remember you giving your uninformed opinions recently in another thread around here about Michael Giacchino and his Lost soundtrack work.
You seem to be missing something in a lot of your posts - the ability to understand that your opinions are just that - opinions. Stop acting as if they're self-evident facts from on high. If somebody doesn't like something you like, it really isn't a big deal. Calm down.
There's a history you have to understand. Regardless, good score by John. It's a clear evolution from the sound of the first film. It's a superior work from John for the series and I hope he'll be able to carry over some of it to other action scores.

My opinions are not uninformed about the music for Lost. I own both scores to season 1 and 2, and have watched season 3 on TV. I know it just as well as you would. Giacchino just doesn't write compelling material for the films/shows he tackles, IMO. As for opinions, you're stating the obvious and I agree with you. Also, HadrianD is right, there's a history there that you're not aware of ... I wouldn't be so quick to jump to gkgyver's defence if I were you. Regardless, I'm finished for the time being putting the dunce cap on his head and sending him to the corner.

Wow, this thread sure went off in an unexpected (and unintended) direction.I finally got my copies of all three scores (thanks, Peter) and had time to listen to them all several times.
They are NOT all alike. There ARE themes that are carried through all three, but they get different treatments, different musical settings.
I think Powell's work matures through the three scores, getting better with each one.
There are several cues on "Identity" that I will not listen to, mainly the electronic drum stuff. But "Supremacy" and "Ultimatum" will be listened to from first to last.
Nice touches <spoiler alert> -- 1) The theme played while Bourne floated lifelessly in the first scene of the first movie is also played when Bourne is floating lifelessly in the last scene of the latest movie. 2) The use of the 'Bourne-in-action' theme in the third movie using different instrumentations -- and different instruments, too!
I can't wait for "The Bourne Legacy!"
