The Fan had a pretty good villain theme. At first it's just a piano theme for Gil (Robert DeNiro) and then as the film moves on the theme starts to break apart and you hear parts on a processed guitar and other things. Then in the end it's like a piano version with all the other distorted elements together performing the theme. That's one I like at least...Clayton

I love when themes are used with variations of instruments and by development rather than simply stating the same thing over and over.

I agree with you on that. Danny Elfman does that a lot... Like with The Family Man I believe you only hear sections of the theme until the last like quarter of the movie. Another person, though I hate to mention him or his themes... James Horner. He also is able to take a theme which might be heroic at one moment and make it dramatic and seem like a tragic loss for others.

I guess Vader was embarrassed (i can understand - i mean have you ever tried to drink a beer through a mask like that? it's tough) and he got mad and started hurling those little drink umbrellas at Voldemort with the power of the force. Voldemort started throwing around the unforgivable curses and things got a little out of hand. And before i had a chance to calm them down the cabana was on fire and i was running for my life."LOL Cole. Did you actually write that? Hahahaha. How can we possibly change subjects now, with such interesting and compelling prose...?

0:12 is the Stone motif.
(0:45 is Hedwig's theme, obviously)
1:07 is the theme that's always played when You Know Who is talked about in the movie (yes, it's repeated at 1:24, at least the first half of it)
1:37 is the theme for the "full Voldemort", so to speak; it's played when Voldemort's power is tangibleIn this particular track, the transition between the two themes happens just when Voldemort's face is reveiled.
There's nothing at 1:55, as far as I can tell.

I think John Powell's Face Off has a nice cool/bad guy theme that you can hear at the beginning of the "Furniture" track. Goes well with the scene, too.

You're not listening to the complete score for HP 1 are you, Marian? I'm listening to the OST.1:07 is silence for me, and then a couple seconds later the stone theme again, and 1:37 is right in the middle of the same theme that plays at 1:24.

Oh well. I'll post some sheet music samples once I get off work. I'm quite curious to further analyze these themes, if you don't mind my peskiness.

I still don't see how the three note motif is the Stone theme. Yes, it makes sense in the first film, but it's often played at odd moments that have nothing to do with the Stone, and it's also in the second film, which obviously has nothing to do with the Stone. Maybe it was just tracked in?And those times don't match with the music for me either.

I have an "extended score", but those timings refer to the flac I ripped from my OST CD. Total running time of the track is 6:10.The Voldemort theme can also be heard in The Quidditch Match, when Quirrel/Voldemort is jinxing Harry's broom. The You Know Who is nowhere else on the CD, but theme can be heard, for example, in the scene where Hagrid first tells Harry about him.

I'm also quite partial to Daryl's theme, esp. the piano and slithering harpsichord version in "Daryl Rejected".

OK, Marian... I think I have it now, timestamps aside.1. The Stone Theme
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e73/voyager89/StoneTheme.jpg2. Voldemort's Theme
http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e73/voyager89/VoldemortTheme.jpg3. You-Know-Who Theme? (my personal favorite in the score besides Hedwig's):

This is exactly the theme I was describing on the first page... "a sequence of dotted quarter notes tied to eighths in a long ascending and then descending theme with tons of accidentals." I guess that wasn't very clear.
It's number 3 above.Does that all look right to you?

Oh yes, I have a weird one... by Harry Gregson-Williams... The Asteroid theme from Armageddon. It's a very odd and erie piece used multiple times in the movie, and it's good stuff in my eyes.Van Helsing, the dracula theme is huge and awesome.
Another odd one, Twister. The creepy music for the twisters is fantastic.
The Kraken from Pirates 2 is also some good stuff.
Blood Diamond had an alright Villain theme, however it just added to the popcornness of the movie which is sad considering how great it could've been.
That's all I can think of right now...

Perhaps my audio buffer offsets the time display a bit. Anyway, you got the themes I was talking about.
