    For Immediate Release

THE SOUNDTRACK FOR UNIVERSAL PICTURES’ ACTION THRILLER
    THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM
FEATURES ORIGINAL MUSIC BY COMPOSER JOHN POWELL AND
MOBY’S REMAKE OF THE MOVIE’S THEME SONG “EXTREME WAYS”
IN STORES JULY 31 ON DECCA

(July 16, 2007 – New York, NY) The soundtrack for one of this summer’s most anticipated action thrillers, The Bourne Ultimatum, starring Academy Award®-winner Matt Damon, will be released July 31 on Decca. Composer John Powell (United 93, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Identity) once again scored original music for this latest installment in the Bourne series. A new version of Moby’s hit song “Extreme Ways,” which was the end-title song for the first two movies, is also featured.

Steeped in classical tradition, yet drawn to the idea of turning it on its head, John Powell has composed a series of acclaimed motion picture soundtracks since arriving in America. He has written imaginative scores for such films as Happy Feet, X-Men, United 93, and Mr. & Mrs. Smith. He is one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood today, with directors including Steve Spielberg choosing him to write the scores for their films.

Rapidly approaching the ranks of the James Bond theme song, Moby’s “Extreme Ways” has become the instant tune you hum when thinking of the Bourne movies. The energetic tempo, coupled with Moby’s haunting voice, makes for a perfect theme song to this thrilling film.

Matt Damon returns as the trained assassin Jason Bourne for the latest showdown in The Bourne Ultimatum. In the follow-up to 2002’s The Bourne Identity and 2004’s The Bourne Supremacy—the smash hits that have earned more than $500 million at the global box office—acclaimed director Paul Greengrass (United 93, The Bourne Supremacy) joins returning cast members Julia Stiles and Joan Allen and new additions David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, Paddy Considine, Edgar Ramirez and Albert Finney. The film arrives in theaters on August 3.

Fanboy question: Did the artwork for this release really change, and when? and WHY?

I've been asked this a bunch of times. According to Decca (in the US) it didn't change. That was always supposed to be the cover. If there was a change they are unaware of it in the US offices.

Interesting, as the largest US music retailer displays the dark image these days. Fanboy checking out.

Even more confusingly, Amazon itself has two different versions. The download version is the blue one, and the physical CD the black one. My copy (downloaded from iTunes) is blue. I've wondered about this too.
