First of all, amazing score, nuff said!!!!There's a lovely motif that is used twice in the film that does not appear on the album. It is used once when Harry and Hagrid walk through Diagon Alley and once more when Harry and all the other first years enter the Great Hall at Hogwarts. Does anybody know where to find a recording of this motif anywhere? I can't believe is wasn't inlcuded on the album.

It's especially interesting to me, since this motif seems to be an intentional and prescient foreshadowing of the future, more sinister motif that is "Double Trouble"! It appears to me that John Williams either knew he was going to develop this into a new motif later on, or else fashioned his DT motif to fit that template.Sorry; I can't answer your question though.

That particular music was written for the Entry to the Great Hall scene but was tracked to the Diagon Alley scene. So there is no real thematic connection. I guess the director thought the Entry to the Great hall music sounded more grand and magical for introducing Diagon Alley compared to the version Williams had written and which is on the album. And I agree it is great music and was a real shame it did not get released. Of course there are so many great moments from the film that were left off the album. Examples are Ollivander's Shop music, various Voldemort's theme appearances and the Troll in the Dungeon scene.

Ahh, I see! Thanks for the info.
And yes Neo, I do see some definite similarities with the "Double Trouble" theme from Azkaban.

(After all, the theme called Hogwarts Forever quite clearly represents the Gryffindors).

Just thought I'd bring the topic up once more to see if anyone has a descent recording of this music, maybe tracked from the dvd or something.
