Ok, I thought some of you guys might like to hear my piano performance of the Main Title from "The River Wild" over at Youtube. The Link is Here
I guess it was my belated tribute to the Maestro.
I've also put up my performances of Dario Marianelli's music from "Pride and Prejudice", some Classical pieces and a few of my own compositions. "Waltz for Miklos" is one of my Rozsa tribute pieces.
    I hope you enjoy listening.

Gae, that is a lovely rendition of Gale's Theme from The River Wild. Also really enjoyed your Summer's End and your waltz for Miklos. Just great.

The only problem is the camera never shows us your face....drat!

That was very nice. Well done.

Also listened to the cue for the Soarin piece by Goldsmith. Really great. J.

    Hi Gae,
glad you're still composing! 'Waltz for Miklos' is very nice indeed, as is all of your playing. Such a shame it has to be on an electric piano and not a, I don't know, Steinway or something.

    Cheers!

Wow Richard! I've just been listening to your "Small Idea Dances No.3"...fantastic!! To get compliments from a "genuine" composer like yourself is praise indeed. Many thanks. Composing for me is just a hobby to be truthful.
With regards to the digital piano, yes, I wish I had a Steinway Grand. To be honest I'd be quite happy with a Yamaha U1!!
Who knows? Maybe one day when the mortgage is paid. I had the opportunity to buy a newish Hermann Mayr Piano for around £500 just recently. Tempted as I was to upgrade, unfortunately, the bills take priority!

Yes, I understand what you're saying, Gae. I guess survival has to take priority over luxuary.
Thanks for the kind words, too. I've never thought of myself as being a "genuine" composer because I've yet to make any money from it! Still, I think that receiving compliments from anyone is always good - it means you're doing something well. Admittedly, its more reassuring if the complimenter doesn't have appalling taste!

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to listen!

    Cheers.
    Richard

Like Gae, I'm impressed with your work, Richard. You have a creative voice and one day will be paid.

    Richard,
As you are not a paid composer, I'm interested to know how you got the recording done by the orchestra? Was it a project that you did on your Masters which is played by a full orchestra?
So far all of my instrumental pieces have been midi arrangements through a keyboard. Actually, they dont sound too bad.

    Gae,
I won a competition. Part of the prize was performance & recording. The bulk of what I have written is usually only heard as a MIDI too.

Just put up "Chinatown" along with a Scriabin prelude. I dont know why the audio is out of sync. It plays fine on my computer.
