Not that I enjoy FSM by any means, but I found this yesterday during my viewing of threads.

    I love research.

    I reference Dan's post.

    <<
There was actually even more recorded than appears on the soundtrack - only because a number of cues were re-written once the tone of the film shifted in post-production. Unfortunately, those were not available>>

abandoned cues doesnt count for completeness. that would be called extra or bonus? Complete is everything that made it to the movie...

    ::large sigh::

I love the musing going on here. Makes me laugh..

I reference Dan's post at this FSM thread. Yes, I actually go there from time to time, but Dan's got a point here.

Back in 1998 someone had told me that Arnold had written a much darker score to reflect the film but during post production the decision to make the film lighter resulted in Arnold re-writng several cues to reflect that.

When I posted that at FSM, Dan replied that it would be explained in the liner notes.

How is that different from what I said?

Unless he's saying the rewritten cues are unavailable...when I read that i assumed he meant cues were re-written and that the original ones were no longer available.

In my opinion this is the complete score...the music that made it into the film and yes even some unused cues. Yes some cues were reworked but hey that happens a lot with a lot of films. Remember Independence Day's the "Final Battle" sequence was reworked late in post production and that is why it was not included on the "World Records 006" bootleg.

    Beggars can't be choosers.

Edit: Basically what I ment to say is this is I believe to be the true original intended edition of the score.

As the person who ponyed up the dough for this release I want to clarify this:

We had 6 cds worth of music to work with (about 7 hours worth of takes). We spent over a year on this project going over every note and scene of the film. Absolutely NOTHING is missing from this release. As a matter of fact, we even included tracks that didn't make the final cut...as well a few alternates.

We were told that a darker score was recorded prior to the one that was featured in the final print. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE had a copy of this music. It's gone -- vanished into thin air along with the missing reels of the Magnificent Ambersons, Jimmy Hoffa and public manners.

What you hear is the end product of a years worth of work from several individuals who made it there mission to deliver you guys the goods.

    Hope you like it.

    MV

Oh now I'm cool for the moment
Besides it's good to see few old or older requests being released.
I wish for a 2CD Armageddon in the near future (you hear sony music...?)

Personally, I'm going on a John Barry kick next month.

Looking backwards, since the new stuff just is not thrilling me.

Actually, a 2 CD Armageddon would be awesome. Or just a CD of the Unreleased cues since like 99% of Trevor Rabin's stuff was released. So basically Harry Gregson-Williams' and Steve Jablonsky's music would be awesome!

But I am looking forward to this Godzilla release, I ordered mine within the first 15 minutes of it being listed. Can't wait to get it! I can't imagine going through 7 hours of music trying to put together a 2 CD set. The takes were labeled as to what actually made it into the movie, right? Otherwise that'd be aweful trying to figure out which cues were actually used and whatnot.

Try something called "Goo Gone" if you have any. That's what I use to remove glue and sticker remnants from my CD cases.

I pealed it off as best I could. Happens. I deal with it. The front of the case is fine, it's the back that has it the worst.

Interesting... so would you call The Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition the definitive complete release of that score?

I certainly would not call The Phantom Menace Ultimate Edition the definitive complete score.

I along with quite a few others from jwfan have made our own complete definitive edition of that score using all the unused material from the game, taking out clunky loops and edits and putting The Battle Of Naboo in proper order. Let me tell you it sounds a whole lot better than the chopped to hell Sony's so called "Ultimate Edition" set.
