Just got this, and it's fantastic. Haven't listened all the way through, but I'm impressed so far. It's nice to have a definitive re-recording of this wonderful score. The performances are spot on (kudos to the Slovak Radio Symphony) and the Concert Hall at the Slovak Radio seems to have provided the right amount of intimacy for the recording - the orchestra isn't floating out in the middle of space like the Royal Scottish National Orchestra does on some of Varese's past re-recordings.My only complaint might be that engineering seems slightly soft, not loud enough. Nothing the volume nob doesn't correct, but I'm at max volume on my computer... which is just barely under the level I'd want to listen this this particular recording at.
The writing is of course gorgeously lush, and the liner notes are a tremendous compliment to the album as a whole.
Great work, Doug, Allan, and co.

Anyone else grab it? Care to comment? John Morgan? What does the resident re-recording expert and reconstructionist think?

It is fantastic. I am glad there are still projects that come from the heart. Ok, it might be possible they can make some money on this one, but it should be obvious that making money is not the driving force behind it.Some have been scared off by the slower tempo in the clips offered thru Intrada's website, but woe to them. I bet serious Spellbound fans already own another re-record or two of the music that doesn't match tempo either... maybe even a rerecording where Rozsa was in charge! So, if the tempo is your beef, stick to getting out the DVD and turning on your TV to hear it as you like it... instead of complaining. But if you need to complain, do it... with seriousness.
What a great movie, and score. It's a fantastic release, and for me personally, it's thus far the crowning jewel in the Excalibur collection.

Jeron. I care deeply. I want this disc. I must have this disc.Unfortunately, not being employed at this time, I can't afford anything fun.
But when I have a job, and money...

I care, purchased it as soon as it became available. Intrada has done another great job with their Excalibur series.
