I'm currently loving her latest album. I read on an Italian gossip website (don't ask) that Barbara Broccoli commented on how perfectly she would fit the part. I tend to agree.

I love Amy Whinehouse. Such a raw, powerful sound to her songs.

Not a bad choice at all.

Still reckon a Goldfrapp / David Arnold collaboration would be more fruitful though.

Hehe the instructions were simple Jeron...

Well anyway it's this site in Italian which I have a look at sometimes since it keeps me up to date with all the useless TV-related gossip in Italy and elsewhere, which can be handing when making conversation with the nurses and receptionists at work.

She's got a great voice, this much is true. Bit of a skank? Also true. Massive drinking problem? Check. They tried to make her go to rehab and she said no, no, no.

My vote's with Goldfrapp as well. Superb idea.

    Shaun

Hey, I listen to her music. I don't share a room with her liver. So what she does in her free time is up to her, IMO.

Good heavens, if I judged music by the lifestyles of the people creating it, I wouldn't have much to listen to!!!

Was just desperately trying to fit her song lyrics into the sentence, so I had to go there.

WOW!!! Great Idea. Amy Winehouse would be a great choice for a Bond singer. She has that big kinda voice you would want to follow in the footsteps of Shirley Bassey. She also walks the fine line between elegance and dirty-dirty that Bond needs. She's hip glamorous and a rough around the edges just like the new Bond persona. My vote is cast.
Goldfrapp would be really cool as well (love their stuff)but dont forget about what happened when Garbage & Madge gave it a go.

At least the Garbage song sounded Bond'ish, it was forgettable for sure but it wasn't the useless insult Madonna perpetrated.

    I still go with Goldfrapp

i agree with you there. at least the garbage track sounded bondish. I think david arnold had something to do with that since he cowrote the song. "the world is not enough" was the lowest charting bond song of the new era though. Tina Turner's "Goldeneye", Sheryl Crow's "Tomorrow never dies," Chris Cornell's "you Know my Name" and even Madonna's Bond song all charted higher on the Billboard charts than Garbage did.

N.B. This paper is the definition of tabloid. However, one can still hope their source is decent.

I thought the garbage song was great, my favorite bond song anyway. Though Cornell's was pretty good too.

My pick would be Muse. Though the Dresden Dolls would be cool, too; Necessary Evil has something of a Bond sound to it.

Winehouse, Muse, or the Dresden Dolls would all be three great choices, and hopefully Arnold will be allowed to compose the title song. Though EON would have to be dumb to not use Winehouse before she kicks the bucket the hard way.

Get on that stat, Michael and Barbara!

P.S. And I'm still holding out for that fateful day when David Bowie gets his own Bond song. That would be ace.

Yeah, I'd like a Bowie song. But as to the others, I haven't heard of any of them.

And from another thread, people know who I think could do a good job.

    From IMDB.com

R&B star Beyonce Knowles has reportedly been approached to replace Amy Winehouse and record the theme song for the forthcoming Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. "Rehab" hitmaker Winehouse was rumored to have been dropped as the film's official musical muse after DJ Mark Ronson told reporters he had scrapped his 007 collaboration with the singer, because she was not "ready" to work on music after a recent return to her erratic ways. But on Saturday, Winehouse confirmed that she has, in fact, completed the song - although she is unsure whether movie bosses will choose to green-light the track for use in the latest superspy offering. Now industry insiders claim Knowles has become the favorite to record the title track - although her representatives have yet to comment on the rumors.

Ugh . . . not a good choice, at all. Didn't Barbara and Michael learn anything from the Madonna debacle of Die Another Day?!

Sorry, but I'll take Beyonce over Ms. Drughouse any day.

I'd rather listen to feedback, white noise, anything except for the stuff she puts out. Hopefully she'll OD.
