It's no secret that I love John's music. Loved the first score, very much looking forward to this one. This one sounds like it's more mature in thematic development, structure and orchestration.
Maybe the matureness of the music will drop onto the movie...because I felt the first one was just awful.
Check it!

Same here, Brian. I've been a fan of John's music ever since I bought The Usual Suspects.
I liked his score to the first FF movie. Your statement makes me look forward to his second take on the superhero quartett. As usual I'll try to avoid listening to the 30 second tracks on Soundtrack.net. They often dissapoint me. I'll wait for the final product.

The premise in and of itself is quite ridiculous, and if you intend to adhere to the source material in any way, shape, or form, you're bound to end up with a similar end result or much worse. There are a few creative decisions I would have taken issue with (restore the main title sequence, remove all the quickly dated pop culture references), but those choices wouldn't have really changed the overall movie, aside from making it classier, but ultimately less commercial and ancillararily marketable. I can think of far worse movies to trash. Don't be so harsh, Brian.
That said, very much looking forward to the second movie (though my expectations are such that I'm not hoping for anything better than the first). John's music is top notch, of course, and while I know he would have liked to develop his X-Men material beyond X2, I actually feel his Fantastic Four work is better and more entertaining. I'm excited to hear his furtherance of that work in the sequel.

While I enjoyed the first Fantastic 4 score, I agree this one does sound a lot more 'matured'. I for one can't wait to see the film either as I enjoyed the first one.

The "Springing The Surfer" music is cool! I know it isn't really new material, but it reminds me of what I liked so much about the first score. I can't wait to hear the full Silver Surfer theme.[Message edited by sean on 05-24-2007]
