Wow...thats more pricy ($8, no?) than the other Excaliburs which were recorded with a London orchestra and a name conductor, surely this must be a mistake?

Not sure, but maybe there are instrinsic "other" costs not associated with previous Excalibur collections:

    1) 24 bit recording (need more hard drive space)

    2) Luggage costs (you know, for video cameras to capture video clips... even though these ended up being free on their website, I think)

    3) Theremin player (highly specialized skill = top $$$$$)

    4) The "much more!" part of the Intrada product description.

    Anyone else with ideas?

I can't imagine a theremin player costs more than the London Chorus which was used on Julius Caesar. But perhaps so. Maybe I should learn the theremin!

To be serious for a moment, I'd guess the weakness of the US Dollar?

Unless the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra is commanding fees above that of the Sinfonia of London... (You are now entering... The Twilight Zone!!)

How about 12 years of inflation! That seems to make a lot more sense to me.

Minimum to record this score cost $40,000. This project is a labor of love and deeply appreciated. Hell, I'd pay $50 for a copy if need be to support such a fabulous release.
