I was just listening to Terminator off Telarc's The Great Fantasy Adventure Album

Wow what a powerful version of Brad Fiedel's theme utilizing a real orchestra but maintaining the percussive/electronic clanks. I've heard the William Motzing version with an orchestra w/o the electronics (playing those parts on timpani for the most part), but this is sweet. Much better than the original electronic version on synth orchestra pads.

    anyone else a fan?

Hell yeah! The Cincinnati Pops version is great. I haven't listened to it in ages, but I remember I was quite impressed with it. It does have a lot of power. I bought several Cincinnati Pops CD's because of the Terminator cue.

Funny... I was actually giving Terminator 3 a spin this morning. How does Beltrami's orchestrated Terminator theme compare to this?

IMHO, the CPO version is light years ahead of Beltrami's version.

Never heard it but some have said it sounds 'limp'.

It's a fantastic version of the theme. There is a unique mood to the Fiedel originals, but the CPO performance gets pretty bombastic.

Beltrami's arrangement is a little more subdued and less "punchy", in my opinion.

Well I am a huge fan of the theme from the original Fiedel scores. There is a mood created that cannot be topped. The CPO version is good though. It's an interesting way to remake Fiedel's masterpiece. I didn't really like much else on the Terminator albums but ecpecially his theme from the first movie, the main titles is really something.

Good way to put it. Another way would be to say it shows some more "muscle".
