Like the subject says... why indeed?

It's clear there's a Music from and Inspired by album which has no score cues in the tracklisting. It's obvious a score release will rear it's head late May, early June or sometime about a month after the film's release like the last two films.

    So Kyp, where's your scoop?

    Nobody's heard it yet?

(Not that that's stopped anyone before...)

...because while the movie looks cool, and lots of people will see it, it's a relatively inconsequential "third film" ... =P

I personally am looking forward to what Chris Young pulls out of his hat. While it may not be much fun for him, I think it'll be cool to hear his re-interpretations of Elfman's themes.

I'd love to start talking about it when I hear it. Young is way overdue for a big project, and Ghost Rider didn't exactly have the legs we were all hoping for. I just wish Raimi had more respect for his composers.

All VERY good points, but I was hoping someone would come back with a release date and label...

Record Collection's a strange label for the Songs album as I figured Sony would lock it up again. Incidentally, I've heard the Snow Patrol song- the lead single form the film called 'Signal Fire'. I personally don't like it, and I'mn not a fan of Snow patrol's stuff - However, I know they have their rabid fans, and more power to them. Meanwhile, I'd rather hear the music that actually matters to me in the film, the music I proabably won't hear because its doing its job and supporting the moments that are entertaining (which goes without saying).

Since it's Chris Young why do I have a feeling Varese is going to do this one.

But it's Spider-Man, so wouldn't Sony claim dibs?

I've heard that Sony won't be releasing this...possibly Warner.

Regardless of who does...I'm only marginally more interested than I was for Spidey 2 as far as the score goes. I have even lower expectations for the film...and that's saying something.

I'm with you here. I've never been a fan of the Spider-Man movies simply because they just don't capture the spirit of Spider-Man that exists in spades everywhere else (Topher Grace would've made and ace Peter Parker if you ask me). I also grew out of Sam Raimi about two years ago.

    Scoop huh?

Chris, so nice to remember "The Info Guy."

    Ah the good life...

Anyway, at this point, I'd suspect a release later this summer. July or Aug would be my guess. As with "S1" and "S2" the releases were always a few months after the Various disc was launched. (Heaven forbid they do it at the same and make people actually read what their buying!)

I'd also guess that Sony would also release it, as they've done the other two.

When I hear something, I'll let ya know :-)

Ya it would seem weird for Sony NOT to release the Spider-Man 3 score. You'd think they will since they have the rights for the other two scores.

Don't forget, besides the score albums, Sony also included two tracks from Elfman's scores on both the SM1 and SM2 song albums.

And I don't see why any Warner music label would release an album for a Sony Pictures film. Sony has enough labels of it's own to handle an album like this.

I admit to being totally confused by whom is composing what for this film. I know that Debney came in to replace some Elfman music in SM2, and I know Rami and Elfman parted the ways and Young was hired, but now rumors abound that Elfman is composing music for this movie, at least some music.

I'm perplexed. Is Young composing ALL of the music for SM3? Is Elfman composing NONE? I'm thinking that is what is happening, and that Young must incorporate some Elman themes into his score like Ottman did with Williams' Superman Returns score. Thanks for any clarification.

Well...that's the rumor that came to me via Sony. No certainties. It may not make sense, but it's then again, it's the music business.

Christopher Young has composed the score for Spider-Man 3 while using some of Elfman's themes from the other two films.

LOL... like you're a weatherman or something... Why does any of this ultimately matter? Just wait and see? The film's not even out yet...
