WHAT?? Original soundtrack, not the bootleg i assume? How did you manage that? I have been looking for a reasonably priced TOD soundtrack for a long time.

Actually, it's not a bootleg. It's a Japanese import. I'm beginning to think, after all my searchin and what I've found on the net, this is pro'lly the only version to get. But, I'm still happy I've completed my trilogy.

On Monday, at a Frisco HPB, I found a copy of Merlin (T.Jones), The 25th Hour (T.Blanchard), and Casino Royale (D.Arnold).

Now, tonight, at another HPB, I FINALLY got my hands on a copy of Solaris (C.Martinez) for $6. I was like "Holy crap!" when I saw it. And it's in great condition (listenin to it now...)
I also got a copy The Russia House (J.Goldsmith) and the score to Maverick (R.Newman). I've never seen a score to Maverick. Odd cover. 25 tracks.
    Been a good week.

I also rebought from Amazon Marketplace:

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home

The only other OOP Star Trek movie score that I need to buy now is Star Trek VI's.

Yup, when I was younger I was stupid with how I handeled my CD's. Left them lying all over the floor and such. Well I've learned my lesson on that and now when I'm not listening to my CD's they go back in their cases.

    And for limited/rare CDs, I make a CD-R copy.

I hardly ever touch my originals anymore...unless I'm at my parents house, LOL.

I have everything on my hard drive, nad backed up on an external hard drive periodically. I've sold the bulk of my physical CDs, only keeping the ones I really like.

No way in hell I'm selling my CD's. I'm keeping em' for dear life. As far as backing up to an external drive... one of these days I need to get one and I'll be definitely backing up my music to that.

Nah, I think HPB is Half Price Books - http://www.halfpricebooks.com/find_a_store.html

Unfortunately, none of them are around where I am (VA). I have to go to a smelly old used books and music store that only occasionally has good stuff (although, I did get Kamen's Lethal Weapon there for $2 last month!).

    Let's see....

About half of these I got at Hasting's. I've never seen one outside of Texas so I don't know if they have other locations across the country. Their prices are usually $4-6 per disc. Not as good of a selection but when you do find something it's pretty cheap. I hadn't been in several months which is why I found so many this past week.

Several of these I get off Amazon. There are a lot of scores out there like THE TUXEDO I bought used for like two dollars then pay the $2.95 shipping fee so it comes to under $5.

Half-Price Books is a good one to check out too. It takes leg work. I might only find one title here or there but it adds up. I hadn't raided the used shops in awhile which is why I went gangbusters these past two weeks.

PeterK, After a while, I admit, I thought that my reviews were not what the crowd here at MM wanted to read. I didn't know if what I wrote really showed a music enthusiast, such as the ones who frequent this board, a reason to go out and purchase a score I had run across. I mean, some o' you music school grad-types run rings around the thoughts I put down.
And I SWWEEEEAAR, (smiling, as I type...) I don't mean this to sound, AT ALL, like any type of martyrdom.
But, after your comment (and most of my recent aquisitions...hooooly cooow!...) I'll try to make more frequent postings of my thoughts and reviews about the music I'm listening to...(sniff)...

    Thanks for the push, P.

I think Peter's telling the truth this time; Craig has a plenty plethora of reviews. He does, however, dish out an uncompromising amount of high star ratings. I've only done a handful of my own reviews for this site (all of which have a high star rating). Review some bad ones already Craig! May I recommend something like Klimek's and Heil's Land of the Dead? Or, lately, Tyler Bate's 300 (though I think it's rather enjoyable)?

High star ratings or not, the reviews I like are the ones that cause me to get off of my cush chair (or my chunky butt?), find the CD in question, and listen to it.

It can be a 1/2 star rating and two sentences, but if what's said gets me to pull the CD and listen to it, I love it!

The comments/reviews area of the site is read a lot. Those are not meant to be forum-type discussions, so gauging interest by number of comments our comments make is not going to prove anything there. But they are read quite a bit.... posting reviews and comments on the product pages is not in vain in the least!

Hastings is all over the place. I've never seen a physical store, but I suspect they have tons because I order from them online all the time, and they come from all sorts of places, mostly in the southwest and midwest I think....I havent ordered in a while, but I used to just wait til they had something in stock because if you had a coupon code you could order $25 of product and get free shipping, alot cheaper tahn buying the same stuff from their amazon listings which was 2 cents cheaper with $2.49 shipping for each listing.

Yeah -- that's the way I did it until Amazon changed their storefront policy. It was awesome - I could get 5 used CDs at a great price and free shipping. But Hastings' web site sucks so I had to search through their store on Amazon. Amazon discontinued that type of searching, or so it seems, and I can't find anything at Hastings now.

Oh well... I *guess* I'll have to buy used stuff from here...

I've always had this way of thinking when it came to someone else's "work":

A movie or recording or even a piece of art, are things that are created for the public. Someone took their time to create something to elicit emotion from some of us.
    Good or bad.
I can never say that something is "a piece of crap" because it didn't meet my expectations. It's somebody else's hardwork. I let others ruin the experience for themselves. If the creator has gotten me to think about what he has created, even for a few lingering moments, then he's has succeeded.
Now, something may not be my "cup of tea" but, I won't condemn the artist by saying it's a "weak effort". It's like all these people out there that are armchair critics, and dump on an effort by a director or composer or artist. If the artist sticks to a way of doing something, some say he's "repetitive". If the artist tries something different, he gets chastized for not sticking to "something that worked before". It's always a double-edged sword for a "creator-artist"-type. I mean, ya always gotta walk into a movie theatre with low expectations or you're gonna be disappointed. That way, it's better then ya first thought goin in.
And dramatic score music, there ALWAYS something inside it that will move a part of me.

And nut_score, you're right. But, I always find something good in something that's "not my cup of tea". And if not, believe me, I'll tell ya. Not believing in that double-edged sword, I just try to keep things in everyone's favor. Although, I don't have "300" or "Land of the Dead"....yet. And I do like Tyler Bates.

One thing I wholly do not understand is when someone trashes a soundtrack/score because their favorite pop-tune wasn't on it. THAT I'll never understand. Buuut, that's just me...

And PeterK, I'll always try to supply some of the reviews that make ya think "BLAMMIT!! Now I gotta find this one!!"
