I see the successful brit comedy is coming. I can't wait for it. soundtrack release date has been revealed, with a great price. The CD will no doubt fall short of Arnold's score... I'd love to hear Arnold's take on Goldsmith's 80s cop scores (if he does it), plus the big Michael Bay-type action (and antics) the heroes plunder through.

You guys on the other side 'o the pond, is this a good film, or what? Top of the UK BO for three weeks. Big big ratings from the geek crowd! Can't wait... been waiting for a good laugh for a long time. There's been so much craaaap.

What's 80's cop scores did Goldsmith compose?

I'm looking forward to this movie. The audience I saw the trailer with was rolling with laughter.

Is this the comedy from the blokes who did SHAUN OF THE DEAD? If so, I'm in.

Would be great to see the trailer, though.

    hehe

I don't think Burt Reynolds even plays a cop in that turkey...

And while I find the score enjoyable, I don't think there is much about it to distinguish itself in any kind of genre...

This movie looks like a parody of 80's buddy action films like Lethal Weapon. Maybe Peter was thinking of Michael Kamen but listening to Goldsmith when he was typing... The trailer music for Hot Fuzz is from either Lethal Weapon or Die Hard... Can't remember which right now...

Mark, Hot Fuzz is the next movie from the Shaun Of The Dead guys.

This was posted in the News section of David Arnold's site last month:

Hot Fuzz is released in the UK Feb 14th.The soundtrack album has three score cuts, Theme from Hot Fuzz,Uncle Derek ( with dialogue from Nick Frost and Simon Pegg) and a suite of music at the close of the record which has around 23 minutes of score edited together.

I'm sure the U.S. release will have the same contents.

FYI: It's the Lethal Weapon 3 trailer music and it's on the CD.

James, cool research... 23 minutes of score on a $10 album is fine with me.

Mike you got it. I was thinking Harold Faltermeyer but playing Hoosiers, then thinking of Beverly Hills and Kuffs. Yikes.

But really, I did have Rent-A-Cop's muzak in mind, which is a thought missing half a brain when called "Goldsmith's 80s cop scores." It would be funny to see Pegg and Frost get a Bond-like theme, but not exactly a Bond theme... which is sorty like Rent-a-Cop's cheese-fest of a theme. To have Arnold write a watered-down 80s style theme for Hot Fuzz would be very funny, considering his success with Bond music already.

LOL! Finally saw this film. Pure fun. Totally over the top. I had no idea the strongest theme in the movie would be Pegg's "sad theme"!!

There was some wild crazy music in this picture, wow. Totally fun... now I wish there was a score-only album. Still haven't heard the suite on the song album....

I'm glad you dug the flick PK; it's definitely in my top 3 favorites of the year (let's you know how crappy the year is, huh?) and gets better with repeat viewings. It's definitely a keeper!

Yarp, that was funny film. Dalton looked like he was having a ball. And I honestly had not seen Paul Freeman since his head exploded at the end of RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK.
