I also wonder what is going on between the Fishchip and Mikael (for IFMCA) here. I've read it three times and I still don't understand the point. Though I'm about to call the American Society of Cinematographers to see if I vote on their awards because I've written a film review.

Thanks for clearing things up, Mikael. As you might guess, my reaction is this:I am not talking about the guys who don't give a crap or **** or ******* or $@&@#(! about film music. Did you see my link to Maltin? That enough should be a clear indicator of who I am talking about.
Look, here's the bare bones point again. Why some people get it and others don't is beyond me:
You guys have a fine group numbering in the 20s. You guys live and breathe film music, awesome. What I am simply suggesting is that the group count be upped to 75 or 100 people who live and breathe film music, including those who make a lot of money living and breathing film music. That someone might be in the position to vote for themselves (say, like some producer dude voting for himself as best producer) wouldn't make any difference with 99 other voters. Additionally, adding industry people who live and breathe film music will do wonders for the PR and will provide the organization some neat laurels (imagine Varese Sarabande or any other label posting "IFMCA Best Score of the Year" in their product PR material!). Adding people who love film music who also may or may not love cinematography or be a big time movie critic shouldn't matter one bit, as long as they are serious film music fans. Once you get membership to this point, then it becomes worth it on an entirely new level... way above the "we have our own film music websites and we like to give awards" type of organization.
Personally, I'd like to see an awards group rise like this, especially in our field. Otherwise, what's the point of me typing words in this box right now?
But if all you want to do is keep membership limited to people who write film music reviews and absolutely nothing else, that's your perogative. I find it too limiting for its own good. It's a good theory and will be successful to an extent, but won't reach its full potential.
But remember, this is all just a comment... a simple suggestion. There's no reason to be offended.
