This just in at Intrada:HINDENBURG, THE
Label: Intrada Special Collection Volume 40
Date: 1975
Tracks: 11
Time = 36:02World premiere CD release for exciting David Shire soundtrack to Robert Wise disaster-conspiracy thriller about possible Hindenburg sabotaging, starring George C. Scott, Anne Bancroft. David Shire anchors with luxurious floating soliloquy for trumpet with strings, woodwinds, French horn in tow. Pulsating action fuels "The Letter", complex harmonies weight "Suspect Montage", "Boerth Sets the Bomb". Powerful highlight: "Fin Repair Sequence" begins with subtle figure for snare drum, bass drum, cymbals underneath clarinets. Idea builds, strings add tension, brass appear. Full orchestra flows with repair melody then entire piece suddenly becomes virtuoso display featuring dynamic, shrill ostinato for fortissimo flutes, piccolo over pounding chords in low brass. Cue reaches powerful climax, finally ends with bravura finish. Wow! Intrada CD offers complete 1975 MCA LP (almost all of Shire's original music was featured) digitally re-mastered at Universal using original stereo album masters. Colorful packaging includes original album artwork, stills, informative notes by Jeff Bond. David Shire conducts. Special Collection release limited to 3000 copies!

This is cool, finally on CD. Can't wait to hear it, although it's the straight LP reissue (heard it all before!). Pre-order is up:

Sentiment understood. Now, if this were the film score for the other blimp from the seventies (which has not legally been released on CD much less LP), the limited edition would have been sold out by now.Know which one I am talking about?

Black Sunday by JW. That would indeed be an incredible release.

Know which one I am talking about?Especially when the only available recording is on the Edel label under Motzing. Alot of people think silva recordings are bad....go listen to Edel!
Some are fantastic, and its nice to have the recordings of unreleased scores, but egads, some of them aren't so good.

If you mean Family Dog, I hope they do find that, it is a good one. But the whole reason I want that disc is for The Mission". It's my favorite of the series, and some really beautiful work by Williams.
