Just found Roy Budd's 1978 score to "Tomorrow Never Comes." It's got a great main title, sung by Matt Munro, some Bond-like action writing, a great 70s funk a la Shire's "Taking of Pelham" score and some wonderfully lush string writing. This even surpasses my guilty pleasure Budd score, "Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger."
Other Budd score favorites?

The one irish flavored elevator muzak is thick with guilty pleasure... which one was that... oh yeah, Flight of the Doves. Wow. Ouch.
What was that one with the Warsaw Concerto? Sea Wolves. A decent score if I remember... I listened to it more than once, so it must have had something going on. Very tense, but then grand.
Here's this 2CD thingy for those wanting to discover Budd on the surface:

Mr Roy Budd is a genius... or I'm sorry... he was - R.I.P. [I miss you nowadays.]More or less all of his oeuvre is recommendable:
The Black Windmill
The Stone Killer
Fear Is The Key
Diamonds
etc....and last but not least as far as I am concerned one of the best movie scores ever written:
Get Carter.

Another tragic loss to the music world. I like Roy Budd's music. It always has an originality and funkiness to it. Apparently he sent in some of Goldsmith's music as his own music, to the producers of "Soldier Blue" in an effort to get the scoring job. Sounds very similar to what Spielberg did. At least they both had the ability to follow on with the bare faced cheekiness of what they did. If it happened today, they'd probably be sued or arrested no doubt.
Isn't "Tommorow Never Comes" the Ollie Reeed detective movie from the 70's? I think I've seen it once but dont remember much.
Another interesting curio with a nice Roy Budd score is the Peter Finch thriller "Something to Hide". For this film Budd wrote a mini Piano Concerto called "Concerto for Harry" in which he also was the soloist performer. I wouldn't be surprised if overwork killed him in the end.Gae
