The key is on comedy for a new On the Score show with composer Hans Zimmer at www.filmmusicradio.com.

Though he's an Oscar-winning master of every genre from action (Backdraft) to historical epics (Gladiator), some of Hans Zimmer's most unique work is heard in his humorous scores for Spanglish. Nine Months, The Weatherman and As Good As It Gets. In this extensive, on-demand program, recorded at Zimmer's Remote Control studios, the composer gives his insight on the often difficult task of scoring comedy, from
turning a musical into the score-only soundtrack for I'll Do Anything to writing a nine-minute stretch of jazzy baseball music for A League of Their Own.

Spotlighted on the show will be Zimmer's romantic-comedy approach for director Nancy Meyers, beginning with Something's Gotta Give, and continuing now for The Holiday. Zimmer's lush music links the film's star-crossed characters from LA to London- a mult-faceted score that drew Zimmer to such collaborators as composer Heitor Pereira and singer Imogen Heap - as well as Zimmer's wife Suzanne.

It's the kind of in-depth interview that you'll only hear at On the Score on Film Music Radio, the station that listens to the words and music of Today's top composers. And be sure to tune into our archived shows, whose guests include Thomas Newman, Carter Burwell, James Horner and Howard Shore.
