Is the new release worth buying if you already have the original? I do love this score.

Its going to be odd me saying this but I think you are fine with the original release, I added a few more of what I thought were the better cues of this new deluxe one from itunes, but it doesnt much add to the listening experience of the original.sd

Yes it's worth buying. Because of the following reasons...Varese did infact remaster the score and it sounds better than before.
There's new music on it and the new music in my opinion is wonderful.
The whole disc is in film order. The Milan release had most of it in order except for "We Don't Want To Die" which they put at the end of the CD and it's wrong.
Also we have all of the Final Battle cues, "Battle At The Pyramid", "Surrender", and "Transporter Horror". Transporter Horror is not even on the Milan release.
Oh and it has the Closing Titles Intro which is finally nice to have on CD. That too is not even on the Milan release.
If you're a fan of both the Stargate music and David Arnold then you definitely gotta get this as I said it's worth it in my opinion.

No, it is NOT worth it, IMO. Love the score, but the first Milan soundtrack is MORE than sufficient - on every level.

Is "Transporter Horror" the music in the scene where Snake Pliskin says "Send my regards to King Tut, ass-hole!!!"?

Who is Snake Pliskin? You mean Colonel O'Neil? Yes it's that scene by the way.

Snake Pliskin is the guy who's in the John Carpenter movie Big Trouble In Little China and the exciting trucker movie Breakdown. He's also in Captain Ron for heaven's sake!

But he's not in Stargate. That was O'neil.Anyway the expanded score is not worth it.
Theres not enough new material to even warrant a seprate CD release.
The so called remastered sound is not preceivable by the majority. The only reason to buy this CD is if you don't own the original.

Peter probably hasn't gotten any more in yet. You can get it through Varese directly.

To straighten things out a bit....OK...Jack Burton was the character in "Big Trouble in Little China" that Kurt Russell played.
Snake Plissken (also played by Russell) is the character in Carpenter's "Escape from New York".
The character Russell played in "StarGate" is
Jack O'Neil.
...again...just to straighten the record out....thank you...carry on...[Message edited by craig on 10-31-2006]

I played the Milan soundtrack to death a few years back. It is a great score I must admit. Not only can Arnold write memorable melodies but his (Dodds) orchestrations in the action/suspense music are excellent too. Great soundtrack, shame about the film though, which was so-so IMHO

I'd begun to wonder whether or not people ever caught onto Sean's character trait of replacing actor's names with those of their most memorable characters. It also seems we have a few that are out of cine-phile loop, apparently.

"No sense of humor". Jeez, that's mighty "elitist" of you. How bout lightening up, yourself, over a simple mistake somebody makes.
Or take this personally.

Good idea BTTF Fan.
Though many here might not think it's worth buying but I do think it is worth buying. I myself was thinking about being a completist and getting the original Milan release I had then I realized that, that disc is inferior now compared to the Varese disc.[Message edited by BigT1981 on 11-03-2006]

Yeah, Peter, give me Minority Report for free, because John Williams was kind of enough to write a theme for me, called "Sean's Theme." In the film, Far And Away has nightmares about me being kidnapped and it causes him to become a pill-popping junky, and S.W.A.T. doesn't like the smell of that one bit!
