I found just 2 reviews for this score:
    http://www.movie-wave.net/titles/green_card.html

    vs.
    http://www.cinemusic.net/reviews/1991/greencard.html

I wonder if they're even referring to the same score...

Who should I let affect my shopping choices??

As in all opposite extremes... a bit of both.

The Cinemusic review is I think a little more accurate. There definitely are memorable tunes in there. James was probably doing laundry when he wrote that review and missed the themes. On the other hand... there is a lot of droning stuff that doesn't go anywhere. Atmospheric noise that just fills the disc. You can probably compress the whole CD to about a 10 minute suite and drop the rest. But if you do that, you'll have a superb 10-minute suite of vintage Zimmer scoring - the stuff that Zimmer does best: good theme (simple but memorable, and evocative); well crafted (synthy with ethnic influences but well integrated).

I'd probably give it less than 2.5 if I reviewed it today, and I certainly wouldn't write such an unfocussed review (well, I hope not!)
