A customer sent me an email this morning regarding Patrick Doyle's excellent Great Expectations score, wanting to clear up some confusion about its status.

Apparently buysoundtrax.com is claiming the CD is rare and out of print. It is not. Quite the opposite. Plenty of copies in the MM store, and at a price that leaves little excuses for anyone to pass up.

    A favorite score of mine.

It could be that buysoundtrax just wants to mark up a big time price like they do often (which they have a right to do) but to falsely claim that it is out of print in order to make the sale is irresponsible and unfair.

That's good, it truly is an excellent score. It is the Doyle CD in my collection that has by far gotten the most playtime, and my wife likes it a lot too.

At 10 bucks, there really is no reason to pass it up. I only fear that it will go out of print sometime down the line and end up like these other hard to finds from Atlantic:
Fairytale, Twister, Last of the Dogmen.

MCA had a bunch of catalog drop to $10 like Land Before Time, only to disappear within a few years. Now look at the prices that one is fetching.

Considering all this, perhaps it's wise not only to buy one, but many!

    Superman (1978)
    We Were Soldiers (score) (2002)

    Music for a Darkened Theater

Quite a few good things on the list, but I'm afraid everyone who posts and reads messages to a movie score forum would already have these... which only sparks my curiousity....

How many of you guys have ALL of the above?

I have most of them (35), at least of the ones that I would likely buy.

I may have to investigate Bobby Fischer though. That is at the very end of the period where I like Horner.

So far, seems that they are not going to sell:

    Batman (score) (1989)
    Batman Returns (1992)
    First Knight (1995)
    Hook (1991)
The Hunt for Red October (1990)
    Star Trek V (1989)
    Superman (1978)

as everybody already has that soundtracks. Other than that, it's just for the fun of writing lists.

I think there are at least a few DRG releases that are missing from the original list.

Murder on the Orient Express (1974)
The Phantom of the Opera (1998)
    The Stendhal Syndrome (1995)
    Jane Eyre (1996)

NP: Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind ~ Image Album (Joe Hisaishi)

Actually, the thinking is backwards Thor:

Alright, so you don't have these. Then what?

    Get them.
