Alright, this thread usually dies quickly, although I love it. No one started it yet and I'm quite happy with the pirchases I just got! So let me be the first to start this new month off:

    Mars Attacks, Danny Eflman: $5
Evil Dead Army of Darkness (this thing has no scratches on it what-so-ever..): $5
    Very happy about those..
I also picked up the World Trade Center score by Craig Armstrong for $14.

My copy of Army of Darkness was part of the Volcano Records Evil Dead Trilogy set. Not my favorite LoDuca scores, but it's a great looking set.

Here's what I've gotten so far this month:

    Marco (Taro Iwashiro)
    Onmyoji (Shigeru Umebayashi)
    Alpen Rose (Joe Hisaishi)
    Nippon Chinbotsu (Taro Iwashiro)
    Regarding Henry (Hans Zimmer)

    Non-Soundtracks:

Japanese Musical Collections for Violin (Akira Miyoshi, Yoshiro Irino, Toru Takemitsu, Roh Ogura, Taroh Nakamura, Ikuma Dan, Hiroshi Hara, Maki Ishii, Sadao Bekku)

    Nirvana Symphony (Toshiro Mayuzumi)

NP: Arjuna Onna no Minato (Yoko Kanno)

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe (Harry Gregson-Williams)

I've heard some snippets of the Phillip Glass score for The Illusionist. It sounds good and I'm hoping to pick that up soon as well.

Nothing. I'm getting increasingly frustrated with the current output of film scores.

My only three major purchases this year will be TTT Complete Recordings, Lady In The Water and Casino Royale.

Running by a local trade-in shop to find a copy of the 2006 film Brick for cheap on DVD (my funds are low currently, and I found it for a reasonable, under $10 price, and the movie hasn't even been on DVD for a week!) and I couldn't help notice that they were having a great sale on CDs (Buy two and get a third FREE! Who doesn't love those?!) so I stopped by their soundtrack section as they usually have some good finds. I came out with three:

MARY SHELLEY'S FRANKENSTEIN - Patrick Doyle
-I love what Doyle does with all of Branagh's Shakespeare films, and if I remember this score complimented the film well (though I'm not big on the film). And, low and behold, it was a common title in Brian's Doyle thread from a few weeks back.

PLUNKETT & MACLEANE - Craig Armstrong
-You know, they had Armstrong's WTC score for only $7.99 but I decided to buy an Armstrong score that I was already fond of and would have a great time listening to. The few tracks I already have on a mix CD already have me ecstatic as to what else he has to offer on the disc. And, low and behold, PK and Sean were in a heated arguement about masters of synth and orchestra in a current thread and this was a common title listed.

KING OD THE ANTS - Bobby Johnston
-I love these little titles that Michael and Ford get a hold of at La La Land and I've noticed this listed a few times on ads at this site and FSM. Needless to say, I was intrigued. I love a good horror score and experimental stuff is always an interesting listen. Johnston seems to be a very small-time composer, as his credits listed on the inside of the case display a handful of what seem like DTV horror and thriller projects. But, Stuart Gordon is a very stylish director when it comes to the genre and he usually knows what he wants. I'm listening to it now and it's difficult to place in a category, the music is different, for sure, very experimental orchestra (and NO SYNTHS!), but it's a bit light on the jumpy horror crap (which is great) and focuses more on building an atmosphere. If anyone is interested in this title, I'd be happy to send a track or two.

Indeed you did Marian. Doyle's love theme that is featured most prominently in "The Wedding Night" is a superb composition of both restraint and grandiose (it's his damn strings, the guy does them so well).

    Just a couple:

    PULSE - Elia Cmiral
    - I've always felt that Cmiral is an often-overlooked composer. His work in the horror genre goes by mostly unseen because of the crap he is often subjected to provide musical accompaniment. After one listening of the score, I thought it was a well-done "shock" horror score, meaning that many of the cues are more action and fright oriented whereas a majority of the quieter and more thematic cues are pretty short (a little disappointing too, though "Video Diary" stands out as a good, thorough theme). The album runs just under 50 minutes (perfect for a horror/thriller album of this nature) with three tacked on band songs (two at the beginning and an interesting piece at the end). This is a good recommendation for fans of the genre and fans of Cmiral. Other aficianados may be turned off by the frequent, frantic suspense cues early on, but they might enjoy the later, more thematic cues. It's definitely one of the better horror scores since Beltrami sort-of reinvented how these pictures were scored with his original Scream score.

    TROY - Unknown Composer
    - I have no clue how this might have ended up in my collection, but God bless the fact that it did. And that's all I should say of this so-sad-that-it-remains-vastly-unheard masterpiece.

I think I got around 10 so far this month.

Comancheros, Buccaneer(sounds too much like Ten Commandments), Seventh Sin by Rozsa(sounds like 50 of his scores), Jane Eyre(Sound FActory version), Horror Films(Sound Factory), those last two I got cheap and sealed at Half Priced here in Lawrence, the new Farewell to the King-very nice, several others.

Thanks everybody! It gets harder for me to find good and cheap soundtracks because I have so many and the ones I want are either not available or too expensive (I'm still a trainee).
I have to admit that this month I had made some real bargains but I also have to add that there are additional 1,50¤-2,50¤ per CD for the shipping costs (all expect one from ebay).

BTW: Can somebody please tell me how much the LotR: FotR Complete Recordings Box cost in the USA when it was released (price in $)?

Hmmm. If I recall correctly mine cost about $45.99. I bought mine at Wherehouse Music. You can find it on Amazon.com for a decent price.

I just picked up Fellini Rota (Nino Rota). Forgot how much Rota's music he wrote for Fellini's films remind me of Danny Elfman.

Also I got X Men 3: The Last Stand. The chorus is overused in my opinion but otherwise I think it's a great album.

I already have my version. It's just very disappointing to see the differene in price. At amazon.de (Germany) they sold it for 80 Euros!
I luckily got it for 60 because when they made the first entry to pre-order it they had the wrong price :-)

I picked up Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I can't believe I waited so long to get it! I'm planning on getting Mary Shelley's Frankenstein by Patrick Doyle. I snippets of it on a podcast and it sounded beautiful! Patrick Doyle never lets me down! Never saw the film though.
