$49.46 after shipping. I love Trevor Jones' music, and was excited to buy this, but now...Do we know how long this will be available? Is it a limited edition size? Will any American retailers be allowed to offer it at a more affordable price?

This thing is beyond incredible. Words could never suffice to say how good this album is.The improvements are just extraordinary.
It's worth it only to hear Last of the Mohicans get the treatment it always deserved: full-blown symphony orchestra, massive sound, lush & rich string section, and an up-front recording to blow your ears out. Sadly, it just proves once and for all what a missed opportunity that Varese Sarabande frisbee is: first rate conductor (McNeely), first rate orchestra (RSNO), first rate engineering team (Allen & co), and results that sound like the Royal Scottish Chamber Ensemble was recorded in a gloomy cavernous acoustic that gives it a tiny pinched sound barely better than the OST, and a recessed orchestra robbed of its impact by the loud thumping reverb of the percussion.
For Roseanna was originally released as one of the worst CD masterings ever. The volume was so low, you couldn't hear the music. The concert suite lets the end credits suite fly in all it's lush splendor.
Merlin... more grandiose with a richer, more impactful sound than the OST. Missing some of Jones' best action writing, but who cares.
And it just goes on and on.
Ok, the performance is hardly top notch. The solo fiddler's vibrato in Mohicans is annoying. There's brass cacks, ensemble incohesion, but the energy of the performance and the crisp, up front recording more than make up for the orchestra's relative troubles, or Jones' rushed tempi.
It's a recording that, in general, vastly improves upon the original recordings. Makes you wish for a second and third volume.
