Picked it up for cheap today, sounds VERY much like The Rock.

Not bad, if you're into the MV sound anyway, any opinions of this score?

"Man in the Iron Mask" is pretty decent, actually. I recommend tracking down another Nick Glennie-Smith CD,
"Cinescene", music from the Puy du Fou theme park. The music is a nice compliment to "Man in the Iron Mask".

Here's a discussion that started six years ago about correct track order. The thread was resurrected when the re-issue CD came out last year:

I'll say it again: despite it being out of order, I enjoyed many of the cues on the first half, but then lost interest to the point where I don't even remember the goings on in the second half. Despite the obvious MV style, the more interesting parts for me were the "classical" inspired moments (if I recall). There was some good sweep in there....

Peter, did you like the rousing ballroom dancing music?

Yes, that's what I recall, along with the track "Ascencion." I'll have to listen to them again to see if the music has changed over the years.... it may have and might suck these days!

Peter, check out the wild and dangerous jail-break music: I recall its both cool and cheesy all at once. And the "Yard Game" is also fun (I could be wrong about that track title, since the CD is somewhere in my Study, along with a great many leather-bound books).

When this music came out, I was very positive about it... I listened to it again about a year ago (having since come to learn the names Korngold, Victor Young, Legrand, and others), and couldn't understand what it was that appealed to me in it.

I have this somewhere. A friend once gave it to me because he didn't want it; listened to it twice over the years and disliked it both times. I might give it a try again, but to be honest, I really don't think I'll like it any better.

NP: X3 (John Powell) (Now there's a lot of Powell I don't like, but I'm beginning to think that he does write really good scores occasionally)

And now I've listened to this again (one showed up for the used store)... hmmmmmm.

And now all I can think of is something like Remember the Titans when the anthem theme comes on.

Here's another funny thread about this score:
    http://www.moviemusic.com/mb/Forum1/HTML/008455.html

And Sean, if you will sift through the leather-bound books and give me proper track names, I'll be glad to listen to it.

Well, Peter, that would entale me getting over the smell of my rich mahogany desk: it still smells like jungle!

I told you: that rich smell of my desk is just too captivating for me to walk over and grab Titanic In The Mask.
