From 1998 through the end of 2003, I was a regular here and established many wonderful friendships with the message board / chatroom contributors. This site was also a regular source of pleasant transactions with Peter, who helped fill a lot of gaps in my collection and always provided very fast shipping! The music we shared and the conversations here were always a source of comfort through difficult times in my life and I am eternally grateful to all of you.I had my first child in 2000 and that changed many things in our lives. My husband collected comic books, history books, toys and games. I collected dolls and the two of us together collected music, primarily soundtracks but also pop music and world music as well. We stopped buying everything except for music after the birth of my son. Those here whom know me are aware I had my daughter the next year in 2001 and finally my third child, Ivan, in 2003. In 2003, it became apparent that money for our children's future was more than our income allowed for so we stopped buying music then too. We actually came to this conclusion back in 2000 and so my husband started selling his books on eBay along with other collected items we had around the home. We are now at the very near end of all of his items which means it has come to the time to sell my dolls and our music collection. Over the next several months, we will be selling it all, with new items put up daily. Anyone who sells at eBay knows there is a listing fee, a final value fee, relisting fees under certain conditions and PayPal fees. If an items sells the first time, eBay gets about 50 cents out of $2 which is what we are going to sell them at ($1 list + $1 "shipping on additional items") and of course, each item was originally purchased at 10-20 times that amount so it will be a great sale. We are selling both CDs and LPs. We are prepared to take the loss on these just as we have done on the books we have sold, so it's nothing new to us. Our eBay I.D. is the same as I use here...Kimiakane. Please bookmark us as a Favorite Seller so it will be easy to check often. Thank you for your interest and support in this sale.
Fortunately, I will not be without my music just as I haven't been these last 3 years. I am content with what I listen to now, which is downloaded on my computer and elsewhere. Since the days of cassette tapes, we had always made copies of our CDs and LPs right away to preserve the collectibility of the originals. This means that everything we are selling is in "like new" condition and will be valued additions to your collections, I am sure.
I would like to invite at this time for my MovieMusic.com friends to say their farewells to me and if you would rather be more private about it, please feel free to e-mail me. Please avoid any romantically-themed correspondence (as I have received in the past) as I am content with my husband...LOL. I am also interested in hearing what your favorite scores are for this year, even if I can't buy them, as I always learned so much from you all and always enjoyed reading your reasons for your passion for a particular body of work.
I wish you all a long, happy & healthy life. May your collections continue to grow and keep your passion alive! I have missed and will continue to miss you.
with love as always,
the former "filmscore gal"
Galina

Im sorry you feel the need to part with your collection, as far as Im concerned you never stop being a filmscore fan, even it you stop buying it.
If it were me I would have my cd burner working overtime coping scores.
Well take care and check back from time to time.

Turn your children into wunderkind composers, get rich, and buy back all the music. Of course, do it in a way that makes the kids happy, too.
Bye.

Hate to see you go, Galina, but selling your collection doesn't mean you'll have to stop coming by, does it?

Gal, just echoing Mike's thoughts here. You make it all sound so final (and I never liked goodbyes). Right, you're making a necessary sacrifice in getting rid of your music collection, but why would that stop you from dropping by for a chat here? You'll still see new movies (and old ones on TV), there's Film Music Radio, you've got copies of all your old stuff, and, most importantly, you've still got your brain to think with. It's impossible to lose touch, even if you wanted to.So, get back here immediately. Or are you selling the computer too? (If you don't respond to this thread, you must have sold the computer).

Well, Galina; I'm not too familiar with you (but I shall be using the forum search to look up your previous discussions) but it is always sad to see one of our own leave. 'Tis a shame that you'll be seperating with your collection; but I'm sure you'll always keep our beloved themes in your head. If you have time, return to the site and see what we're dicussing and feel free to jump into conversation. If you have some extra cash lying around, give a new soundtrack a try; you could always develop new tastes. You're brave enough to leave your collection behind (something I'll never do until I die and even a few of those will come with me on my MP3 player in Heaven) so I saulte you; but I also shed a tear for a fallen comrade. Enjoy it all miss.

Hey Galina, we haven't talked much since you left the FSM board awhile back, but I'm sad to see you leave this place as well. I have to reiterate what the others said: Does selling your music collection (which is the 100% correct priority in your situation) prevent you from popping by now and then?Cheers!

Of course, you are all right. There is no real reason for me to really stop visiting just because my collection is going away. I do have it all on my computer which means I can do *you know what* anytime when I need to listen to it in my car...although that time is usually reserved for our local classical music station WGUC (available to listen to anywhere in the world from www.wguc.org for free!).I was mainly thinking that it may be painful to read about new releases that I won't be able to own, but several of you have given me some very nice suggestions on how to take care of that concern. Thank you all for the kind thoughts, words of comfort and support. I still have to sell our collection but the music will stay and so shall I.
with love as always,
the filmscore gal,
Gala

I finally got around to saying goodbye to Filmscore this morning (I always preferred this site to that one as discussions here are usually much more like family and friendly). I had not had the chance to read my e-mail in a few days due to my mother-in-law falling down and getting hospitalized, work (as usual) and my eldest son's 6th Birthday party which I hosted at home. Now that I have caught up on my e-mail, several of you have convinced me (as well as the messages here) that things are not as bad as they seemed a couple of days ago. This will be a gigantic change in my life as I have known it to be through the last decade, but changes are nothing new to me and this too will change. Hopefully, as Joan says, maybe a future change will allow me to buy everything back one day.
