Here it is guys... and wowzers! I'm SO looking forward to this score. Having heard all of the clips, this has got to be one of John Ottman's strongest scores to date. The trailers look great, the story sounds cool, but neither one is conclusive. I can make a solid assumption though that if Superman Returns isn't a great movie, it won't be because of the music. John's got that covered.

Congratulations, John! And thanks for the stellar preview, Dan.

I agree--I can't wait for this. I love the orchestrations in the final cue, which unfortunately the clip ends before the theme gets going.

    Now THIS I like!
Sounds vastly superior to X- Men III (and II). I can't wait for this score, although I have doubts about the film.

If the whole CD is like that, All I can say is that it's not going to be long enough.

The choir sounds out of place to me, as if it was just tacked on.

I really don't think the score needs choir. Especially a child choir.

Choral or vocal elements are certainly one of John Ottman's signatures. Choir nowadays is feeling a bit overdone, as if that's the automatic ticket for "Epic" - but that said, I'm hesitant to really comment on it until I've heard it with picture. I mean, really we're only hearing 30 seconds of each track. Hardly a definitive look at the score. What I have heard though I do really like, and who knows? - choir may have been just what Superman and Lex Luthor ordered.

While I am surprised at the quality of the score, I am hesitant untill I have heard it complete.

Remember, the main theme is (and Love theme) is still John Williams' work. That remains pivotal and a benchmark of quality writing.
I agree that the word "epic" seems to have been downgraded these past years and automatically affixed to when choir is used or large scale brass and horns. I am sorry, but epic is something that needs to build maturity and momentum. A score released just this year is by no means epic. It is like a good wine. The suffix/prefix "epic" can only by affixed after some gestation...
