Now available for pre-order here.

I'll be able to get these mailed out on 5/26 or so, as the limited edition CD warehouse will be closed for the next two weeks (although orders are most welcome during this time). I'll probably do an "in store" pick up at Intrada of the Amazing Stories stash of CDs while I'm in the bay area, so don't worry about not being able to get them thru MM. I'll have plenty... but just in case, get your orders in sooner rather than later!Excitement from Intrada, woohooo!

Here's Intrada's official up and up:quote:
INTRADA Announces:
AMAZING STORIES
Composed by John Williams, Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, and More
INTRADA Special Collection Volume 32In 1985, Steven Spielberg launched an ambitious anthology series called
AMAZING STORIES. Spread out over two seasons were good-natured,
colorful tales of the fantastic. Stories about a cartoon wheel on a
world war II plane, a phantom train, a ghoulish school teacher,
magnetized kids, mummys and hair pieces gone wild...anything the
imagination could conjure. To bring these outlandish tales to life,
Spielberg assembled an amazing line up of directors including himself,
Clint Eastwood, Danny DeVito, Robert Zemeckis, Joe Dante, Martin
Scorsese and many more. Musically, AMAZING STORIES featured some of
Hollywood's biggest talents -- a roster of composers never seen before
or since on a single television series.Within the next few months, INTRADA will be releasing three 2-CD sets
featuring the stunning music composed for AMAZING STORIES. Some of the
highlight episodes included on these three sets are John Williams' GHOST
TRAIN and THE MISSION, Jerry Goldsmith's BOO, James Horner's ALAMO JOBE,
and music by Bruce Broughton, Michael Kamen, Leonard Rosenman, Georges
Delerue, Danny Elfman, Alan Silvestri, Craig Safan, David Shire...the
list goes on. Each represented episode is complete, and each disc
features a different version of the AMAZING STORIES theme. Also featured
is Williams' Amblin logo theme. The music was mixed from the original multi-track masters and result in
stunning stereo sound throughout. Liner notes are by Jon Burlingame. The
first set is available now and is limited to 3000 copies.

I definitely plan on getting this. Wasn't there a Varese release of an Amazing Stories?

I saw several of these when they first came out back in mid-80s while we were living and working over in St Louis. Some were really good. Looking forward to the Boo episode music by Goldsmith also. J.

Just got this set in the mail. Great presentation to go with great music. The sound is pristine and the notes are detailed. This is top-notch stuff all around. It'd be hard to find any other release that offers this much variety and quality, but I'm willing to bet that Anthology Two will be a likely competitor.

It's odd, that the ANTHOLOGY ONE was a dream-come true and yet I still haven't been able of enjoying it wholeheartedly. Hearing the gorgeous series theme (by Williams) for the first time in its completely stereophonic remastered version was a wonderful but oddly shattering experience; I had gotten so "used to" the videotape & television "mono" version, that this remastered, clean-sounding stereophonic Intrada-version sounded first like a sacrilege. Really. But luckily, I'm starting to get over the first shock by now.
The other thing was that most of the contents of the ANTHOLOGY ONE (with the exception of Williams' beautiful and childlike GHOST TRAIN score) weren't as good as my own Amazing Stories -favorites. Luckily the favorites start to drop in on this second volume: Broughton's THANKSGIVING, Addison's GREIBBLE, and Goldsmith's BOO! Too bad they didn't include THE PUMPKIN COMPETITION on this one. However, here's thumbs up for the ANTHOLOGY THREE: Pleeeeeeeease include Ralph Burns' MAGIC SATURDAY and THE 21-INCH SUN!!!

Looking forward to the second set. Lots of great stuff on there and Boo by Goldsmith is one of those. Several of the others sound good on Vol 2 also.J.
