Does anyone have any idea what's the highest price ever paid (on ebay and other sources) for a soundtrack CD? I'll let you know later but I think I have the CD in my collection.

According to urban legend, someone paid $2500 for CHERRY 2000 in an auction back when it was released on the old Varese Soundtrack Club. I wish someone could verify it, though.

This is the soundtrack that I was referring to: BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN and I have it! It sold on ebay on Mar-12-06, the winning bid being $1,025.00. It was in the "For Your Consideration" package of soundtracks that the Academy Music Branch sent me this year. When I started getting emails about it after I had commented on the 22 track score on this website, I decided to investigate. Even if it were the ENTIRE original score from LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, I never would pay THAT MUCH!! Some people are loony, wouldn't you say?

Well a bid doesn't mean anyone paid for anything.
I've contacted several people on eBay sellings scores that were going into the several hundred dollar range, to ask if they could make a CDR before they sent it off the winner. And alot of them said that the winning bidder never paid for the CDs anyway.
I think they just bid that high for fun.

You're probably right. I often bid on items that I have no intention of paying for. So do most of my friends and relatives. It passes the time.posted 03-27-2006 08:23 AM PT (US) Old Infopop Software by UBB
