I didn't think Hocus Pocus was THAT rare.

What's the most you ever paid for a score?

    Anyone?

Now that's WAY to much for a score. I'd never pay THAT much money for a score like that.

The most I've paid for is $60.00 for the rare OOP Rhino/Warner edition for Superman 2-disc set.

    Total Time 43:21

That would be about $15 per minute, at the current bid. For that kind of dough I expect to be able to fly on that vacuum cleaner, without Bette Midler of course.

and to think... it's marked Not For Sale on the artwork.

Without Bette Midler yeah... but maybe Sarah Jessica Parker could take her place! The most I've spent was $35 on an Apollo 13 original promo.

Well not counting the Jerry Goldsmith At 20th Century Boxed set I've paid around $56.00 for the double disc sets of Akira Ifukube's score to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (1992) and Godzilla vs Destroyer when they both first released. Then there was the $50.00 I plopped down for Shore's Fellowship Of The Rings complete recording, I know some people might find this foolish but I paid $75.00 for the Mulan Academy Promo when it was first issued, it is the actual CD.

One funny story, I paid $75.00 for Intrada's Poltergeist II expanded CD after coming so close to getting it several times only to be told it wasn't in stock or losing the auction. Well guess what? 2 months later Varese announces they are releasing the damn thing.

The only other one I can think of was $95.00 for Akira Ifukube's Majin Trilogy boxed set.

And all of the above CDs have more than earned their money because they get alot of playing time.

Wow. You spent a lot of money on Ifukube. I can't say what the most expensive item I have is. When things get too pricy I either live without or try to a find a collector who can make me a cdr. I paid $50 for an LP of Tokyo Olympiad--worth every penny too. But I'm sure I've spent more than that on a film score, I just can't think which one just now.

Jeepers!! And I was called nuts for plunking down $120 for Spacecamp. Ok, maybe I was but...

I can't think of ANY CD I'd pay that price for.

Most I ever paid was $55 for an original "Farewell To The King" by Poledouris (the Milan issue, not Varase) when I first got into film music. FTTK is still one of my all time favorites.

Later I sold it for $90 to free up some cash for... more soundtracks.

    I don't think the $50 for FOTR should really count. I mean, that's a 3 disc set with a book and then a DVD-Audio disc. At $50, I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

Actually I should clarify the Maijin Trilogy. It's a 3 disc set in a small box with a booklet.

Yeah trying to get those Japanese imports can be expensive.

Yep, that Farewell to the King is also one of my favs by him.

The most I paid for a LP is around 25 dollars
    CD about the same.

The average cost of my 1300 LP collection per LP was around 8 bucks. That includes the entire range from early 60s when really cheap to around 12 or so there at the end with a few m ore than that.

Average cost per CD of the 800 I have is probably more around 12 to 14 range. Inflation and so forth. LOL>
    Take care, J.

I was trying to remember why I REALLY sold FTTK, and it occured to me. There is an irony (for me anyway) about owning high priced originals, which is that I never play them. The first thing I did was make a copy of the CD because it was too precious to move in and out of the player. So, the rare item was under lock and key in a file cabinet.

If I bought the Hocus Pocus disk I would need to put it in a safety deposit box.

I have a CD-R of HOCUS POCUS and think it's quite enjoyable (although very clichéed and pastiche).

As far as the most expensive CD I ever bought...I don't remember. Disregarding boxed sets and stuff, it might very well be WITCHES OF EASTWICK for $30. According to a certain urban legend, someone allegedly paid $2500 in an auction for the original CHERRY 2000 many years ago. That is undoubtedly the most anyone has ever paid for a soundtrack (even taking THE CAINE MUTINY into consideration).
