    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

L.A. FILM FESTIVAL WINNER TO HAVE SOUNDTRACK RELEASED

UNKNOWN SOLDIER TO BE THE PREMIERE RECORDING FROM MOVIESCORE MEDIA

(January 23, 2006- New York, NY) – The new film music company MovieScore Media specializing in digital distribution of high quality film music, presents UNKNOWN SOLDIER – Original Motion Picture Score, its first soundtrack release. The film, which was named “Best Narrative Feature” at the 2004 Los Angeles Film Festival and was nominated for a 2005 Independent Spirit Award, is currently airing on the cable network Starz. The soundtrack contains the jazz-based score composed by New York composer Peter Calandra.

“We are very proud to announce Peter’s infectious jazz score to a world-wide audience as our very first release. The music for this independent picture by Ferenc Tóth has already won a lot of critical acclaim and I am sure it will astound both soundtrack fans and jazz aficionados,” executive producer Mikael Carlsson said.

Calandra’s score has earned high marks. It has been called “a note-perfect jazz score” by L.A. Weekly and “a rousing jazz score” by Film Journey. ”Peter’s simple, elegant and moving score supplements the drama of UNKNOWN SOLDIER beautifully“, said the film’s director, Ferenc Tóth. “Peter’s jazz sound recalls our great American urban music. Most importantly, his score brought unity and emotional resonance to our story. Peter seduced our audience into deeper emotional engagement into Ellison’s story of innocence, loss, wandering, anger, and ultimately, renewal. Never showy or calling attention to itself, Peter’s score is the work of a man in command of many styles with a mature and distinctive sound.”

UNKNOWN SOLDIER—Original Motion Picture Score will be available via iTunes and other digital music stores on January 24, 2004 from MovieScore Media http://www.moviescoremedia.com).

    Unknown Soldier: The Film
Ellison, known as L, is a smart, carefree 18-year-old who has been brought up by his proud and loving father, Sam, since the death of his mother when he was just five. Father and son share a relationship that fulfills and nourishes them both, and that insulates L from many of the world’s harsh realities. But when tragedy strikes, L faces a drastically different life. As he faces basic issues of survival, L confronts his future, and the decisions he makes in desperation will change him forever. L faces a battle within himself, and against the forces around him. He is an Unknown Soldier on a cold and unforgiving battlefield - the streets of Harlem.

    Peter Calandra
Peter Calandra is a New York City-based composer and keyboard player. His film scores include Jellysmoke, Unknown Soldier and 13th Child: Legend of the Jersey Devil.
